Orienteering race 40:13 [5] 8.75 km (4:36 / km) +60m 4:27 / km
ahr:159 max:171 shoes: Asics GT1000-2 No. 3

European City Tour Vets race around Barcelona. Great fun running around the old town then some very fast running in a flat park. Still tired but got into my running better than yesterday. Got HR up quite high by recent standards.

There wasn't scope for complex route choices so concentrated on trying to navigate smoothly and generally did. Dodged the narrow alley with the queue for the Picasso gallery first time, but ran/walked along it later. Only a few 5" errors, paused in one 'square' to check the right way out.

9/90, +14%. 2'10" off 3rd. Better. Last of 4 Brits (ColinD, MartinW, NeilC, me) in space of 62 seconds however!

Running warm up/down 10:00 [1] 1.5 km (6:40 / km)

Catalunya Sprint Champs, bolted on Euro City Tour M40+ race, Barcelona. Good fun, running round an interesting park with odd walls, ponds and gardens. Very tired from the get go. Felt like I had just done a high volume week. A couple of 5-10" errors and one more significant, maybe 20" confused by well set leg diagonally across an odd walled bank. 14/53, +30%, not good enough!

Note
(rest day)

Entire week without running, the theory being to rest some more before getting back to training, but the practice was doing so much walking every day, on holiday in Spain, that I was pretty tired most of the time.
