TT was just what I needed this week, 5 x 5 mins (3 min recovery) around Regent Terrace, although there was a hill at one stage which didn't help. Felt good and going well on the flat, poor on the hill.

Followed by pub crawl due to drinking challenge. Less useful from a running training perspective, but fun.

New shoes, for intervals only for first 50 miles.

Dumyat hill race on a dreich evening - well it got a bit wet on the way up and really very wet on the way down. Good fun, haven't done this race before and I can see why it's popular. Felt fairly strong going up, then descended pretty badly, losing at least 20 places. Not sure where the decent descending of a couple of years ago has gone, although doing single legged squats less frequently is probably a factor. HR ave 151 up, 144 down.

Sunny evening so went to MPC Monday which was for whatever reason a time trial around AS. Was last of the 6 who turned up as fairly knackered. Home via kilderkin.

Long Sunday run lapping IP didn't go so well. Back to the usual just-before-lunch slot and I was pretty tired and started slowing down from an hour. Achilles and l. knee holding up until near the end as form started to go.

Silverknowes 5k Scottish road race champs. Nice evening for it. Had hoped to be clearly under 19 though so quite disappointed. Started off a bit too fast - although nothing like as too fast as those round me - was on schedule at 2km, just off schedule at 2.5km and ran the second half at 20 minute pace.

HR just didn't get to max - only briefly over 160, average for second half was 157. Probably mostly just a lack of "race pace" training which is scheduled to start soon-ish.
