Running race 1:37:53 [5] 13.1 mi (7:28 / mi)
weight:86kg shoes: Orangey Gel 1000s

EMF Half Marathon. I've avoided this race before because it starts at 8am but as I'm used to running in the morning atm I just got up early and was completely fine with it. I was a bit bloated due to eating fish and chips the night before but that meant I didn't need to take much water on. It was raining a little but 11C and not too cold, actually pretty good running conditions apart from the headwind along Portobello seafront.

Really quite enjoyed myself, set off at a controlled pace, keeping HR<145 (4'37/k = 23'05 being VO2 max equiv of last week's 5k) and felt pretty good. It got hard around half way and my HR and effort went up to keep a similar (slightly slower pace)... although the first 5 miles is mostly downhill so maybe it wasn't much slower gradient adjusted. Then found I had some spare energy for the last 5k push. Running past the finish and having 5k left to go out and back is so much better than in the mararthon when it is 8 miles out and 8 miles back! Only slightly slower than Great Scottish Run in 2019 so happy with this! Onwards and upwards.

then a 4'16k finishing at 4'00/k
