Rogaine race 3:30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Trabuco Silver 2010

We made a choose your own adventure rogaine for the morning after getting plenty of sleep and a good feed from the hash house. Picked up quite a few points and had a good pace while we took many roads/tracks to controls.

Overall got 1210 points so pretty happy with that.

Rogaine warm up/down (Control collection) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Trabuco Silver 2010

Most of the controls were at track junctions so were easy to drive to. We had to collect 60 as well which was in a water course with no obvious topography. I went off on my own to find this in my sandles as my shoes were soaked.

Came from the south at the road junction and was doing good until the only compass I could find was the $9 bargin and it worked well considering, however I accidently bumped the dial as i ran and did not notice and ended way off. tryed to correct and found the water course and went up and down it and could not find the control. Eventually gave up and came to the road and was about 500m away from the car but did not know which direction. Of course I picked the wrong direction and upon not finding the car had to run back about 1km to find the car.

One of the setters came out to find us as we were one of two teams out collecting controls. I just got back to the car as he pulled up and he said he could see why I had problems finding it and he would get it.

Rogaine race 6:30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Trabuco Silver 2010

Rogaine with amanda, matty and ameko. Went pretty soft this time with a 26km planned loop for day 1.

had a rocky start with amanda taking the navigation and miss juding the distances we travelled to get to the first control. After the correction found it and continued on to get another bit of bad nav pulling us to the left of our second control by a couple hundred metres. Going slower stuffs up the distance perceptions.

The rest of the course was fine. Found many unmarked tracks that were bonuses to walk along instead of bashing through the fallen logs.

Just before dusk amanda's knee was playing up and instead of going for an 8 hour course we cut it short and came in early.

We probably ended up with about 23-24kms the first day and 800 points
