Running (Easy tempo run) 1:00:00 [2] 8.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Easy/tempo run w/ Annie - pace was way off since it was a super hilly route plus there wasn't any street lights for a good section (so we slowed to avoid breaking an ankle on the potholes). But, felt good. We did negative split on the return trip, which was good considering there is more climb on the way back.

Easy run @ Mt Tom w/ Chris, Nick, Amanda, and Greg. Did usual loop but cut the end a bit short since we ran out of day light. Super relaxed pace.

Easy run w/ Annie and Kim in Noho. Annie got a bit excited, so our pace was a bit quicker than usual. Felt good. Hamstrings still a bit tight.

Easy run w/ team while they did tempo. Warmed up wtih the team, then did tempo pace with the faster girls (15 minute tempo) and cooled down with guys. Felt good.

Ran w/ Annie - did run by WSC. Ran 10k course in 50 min, then ran loop (with double lower loop) at Stanley Park. Felt great to get out and run, was pleased that she was ok with slightly slower pace...but I felt better as the run wore on. Hamstrings still a bit tight.

Ran super easy with the slower girls. Was fun to chat with them...but at a super relaxed pace.

Did warm up and cool down with team, but stretched while they did Prefontaine's. Hamstrings are super tight...but otherwise felt ok. Wasn't pleased about standing out in the rain coaching! :)

Decided based on how I felt on Friday (and that it was barely a few days before) that I would only do the 50k and not push my body into total deficit. Am bummed by this decision, but it was the right one. The 50k went pretty well - I ran strong and the legs felt really good, but the lungs were battling me the entire way (I was gasping for breath!), and my energy started to wain around 20 miles, so I knew that the 50-mile race would have been really stupid. Was pleased to run strong even being a bit sick.

So sick on Friday - got sent home from work since I looked so terrible, and then I slept for the rest of the day and night. Don't know how I am going to run 50 this weekend!

Running (Tempo run) 57:00 [3] 8.1 mi (7:02 / mi)

Tempo run w/ Annie. Felt a bit like hell at first - throat is dry and has the beginnings of getting sick. But, hung with Annie from her house to 4 mile cross-road and back (rolling out and back course). We did ~28 min out (which is better than last week), but I was stuck in my 'Amy tempo' and did the same tempo on the way back.

Easy run behind the house - to Tower #1 and back. Ran w/ Nick and Chris - super relaxing...everyone is still recovering from Pisgah and my cold is catching up wtih me a bit. Was happy to relax and enjoy the trails with friends.

Easy am run w/ Kim in Noho. Felt relaxed - my hamstrings are starting to get a bit tight.

Ran w/ team for tempo intervals. Did warmup to Van Horn, then paced with slower ladies during intervals. Don't know the 'time running', but figure about 10 min/mile pace. Felt super easy, and appreciated! Have a scratch in the throat that I'm hoping is nothing...

Moderate/easy run with Annie - from her house to Granby and back. Felt great, relaxed! Was super chilly and I had to wear spandex for the first run so far this fall!

Ran easy w/ Abby at Whiting - team was running there also. Felt great, relaxed. Luckily, with Abby's injury, she wasn't pushing the pace so we ran super easy.

Pisgah Trail Race - 50k (plus a bit of warm-up). Race went really well! Felt in the zone and was fortunate to have company to keep me focused. Super excited to beat the CR set by Nikki Kimball in 2000 (in her prime!).

No idea how to quantify - team had DWC Invite, so I warmed up with the team and then ran around to cheer folks on, etc. Lots more running than at Smith meet. Felt like I sprinted, stopped, sprinted, stopped...etc.

Morning run w/ Annie - slightly elevated tempo for the run (just kept it honest), but felt good and was pleased. We did push the last mile or so at the end. It was uphill on the way out (and dark, so footing slowed us a bit), but we did 6.1 in 47:30ish (~7:47/mile) and then flew on the downhill (once the sun was up) and did the second half in 41:30ish (~6:48/mile).

Hard to explain the workout today - met w/ Kim at Whiting to do tempo run. Warmed up for 3.5 miles at relaxed pace (~28 min), then did 3 miles at tempo pace (goal was 6:45s), so since there weren't exact mile markers, we decided to do 20:15 (since that's 3 x 6:45). Felt great during the tempo run, and I think we may have started a bit slow (first half mile was around 6:50 pace), but then we surged as the legs loosened up and I think we ended up averaging closer to 6:40 (we did the 2.95 mile loop in 19:35). Legs felt great, breathing was relaxed, and I was pushing it, but it wasn't an all-out effort. Abby showed up about 5 minutes in, so she went the opposite way and caught us again with about 3 minutes to go. Abby joined us for the quick cooldown (~1.5 miles) and then Abby needed to get in a bit more time, so I headed out to do another 1.25 with her (and Kim left). Great long day with plenty of strong running in there.

Easy run w/ team - they were doing tempo intervals, but I paced a few of the girls through their intervals. Felt good, nice shake-out run.

Ran w/ Annie - did 8 miles total, trying to hold good pace and negative split. Did 29 min (7:15/mile) for first 4 miles, and felt good and relaxed...did 27 min (6:45/mile) for the second 4 miles, and felt good altho pushing it towards the end. Great workout.

Ran Abby's 'WNEC workout' w/ team at HCC. W/u around campus, then did 20 min of up, across, down (and short recovery), c/d around campus. Felt good and was able to pace most of the athletes up and over. Legs took the whole warm up to relax.

Easy 2.5 mile w/u, then Curly's 1/2 Marathon (14 miles, 2:10), then 2 mile c/d. Felt great during the race (with the exception of bashing my knee in).

Workout w/ team - warmed up to Cemetary (long way - 1.25 mi) then did 10 x 400 repeats (they were just a hair short, unfortunately) - did 1:25, 1:23, 1:21 (for last 8). Felt good/fast. Recovery of ~ 200m each. Cooldown back to campus.

No idea the distance - ran from house to upper Res (Rt. 202) and across power line and wet trails to get to lower Res - once around lower Res then up hill to upper Res and back up 'quick trail'. Felt great, easy relaxing run.

Walking (Hiking) 1:20:00 [1] 4.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

Easy hike w/ team up Mt. Tom on Rt. 141 side. Don't know the distance or time that we were hiking. But, beautiful day and amazing view! :)

Did Wapack Trail Race - no idea the distance, think 20 miles? Felt strong throughout the entire race, but legs were zapped from yesterday's run for the flat/fast sections. Had a blast, however! :)

Did faster pace run w/ Kim and Laura - did regular Rt. 9/Bike Path route in Noho, added a few miles to beginning. Felt good, relaxed, and was pleased with the pace.

Easy run w/ team at Chicopee State Park - previewed men's course plus ran back for a few stragglers. Was glad to run with the faster guys, so the pace was comfortable (not too slow).

Easy run w/ Abby and Kim in Noho. New route, was more rolling and fun. Felt good - think the pace was a bit elevated and that was ok. Was very pleased to notice that my calf hasn't bothered me since Sunday.

Running (Intervals) 1:10:00 [3] 9.0 mi (7:47 / mi)

Intervals w/ team at Whiting Reservoir - warmed up ~2 mi (16 minutes), then did 4 x 1 mile repeats @ 6:40, with ~1/2 mi (5 min) recovery. Cool down ~1.5 mile (12 min). Felt good, relaxed, was just doing 'tempo' pace, but considering the heat I was pleased.
