Biking (Spin) 1:00:00 [1] 15.0 mi (4:00 / mi)

Easy spin to try to work out the fatigue in the legs!

Sunday Jun 29, 2014 #

Running (Trail run) 2:20:00 [1] 14.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Easy trail run at Mt. Toby with Apryl and Patrick - did mostly the Mt. Toby route (with a few alterations, and a few 'double backs'). Felt a bit sluggish with my running - yesterday was certainly a long run and I feel that.

Weights 30:00 [3]

Did legs strength circuit (plus core).

Saturday Jun 28, 2014 #

Running (Long trail run) 5:30:00 [1] 32.0 mi (10:19 / mi)

Did super long run - but it worked out perfectly. I ran from my house to the trails to meet Molly, then did 2 hours easy with her. Laura met us as at the end, and joined me for another few hours. Then, as we were finishing up, Kelsey came running down the trail and got me to run another hour easy before I headed home. I actually felt stronger in the later portion of the run!

Friday Jun 27, 2014 #

Weights 45:00 [3]

Lifting - legs and core. Need to do a better job of working core, perhaps I'll try the 5-minute plank challenge again to motivate me. :)

Running (Trail run) 1:00:00 [1] 6.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Easy trail run with Jess and Meghan at Earl's Trails. Felt great!

Thursday Jun 26, 2014 #

Running (Trail run) 55:00 [1] 6.0 mi (9:10 / mi)

Easy morning run w/ Frank on local xc trails and bike path. Calves are finally feeling fairly normal. I felt a bit sluggish...perhaps it is due to going home and snacking for 4 hours straight instead of running yesterday afternoon. But, we all need those days.

Running (Trail run) 1:30:00 [1] 9.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Run w/ Laura on Earl's Trails. Legs feel a bit sluggish - maybe it was the humidity, maybe it's just been a long week.

Wednesday Jun 25, 2014 #

Running (Trail run) 1:30:00 [1] 9.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Easy trail run around Earl's Trails with Molly and Eric. Felt good, calves feel a bit better today than yesterday...phew!

Tuesday Jun 24, 2014 #

Running (Trail running) 1:20:00 [1] 8.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Easy trail run w/ Molly and Ashley at Sugarloaf - calves are a bit tight today...but felt better than anticipated once I started running. Great to share the trails with these two ladies...and glad those two got connected.

Running (Trail run) 1:35:00 [1] 10.0 mi (9:30 / mi)

Easy trail run w/ Aaron from the house, around Sugarloaf, and back. Legs feel a bit dead, but were ok once the big climbing was over. I seem to be getting a bit better with the afternoon (hot and muggy) runs, so that's great!

Weights 30:00 [3]

Did a circuit at my house of leg exercises.

Monday Jun 23, 2014 #

Biking (Spinning) 1:00:00 [1] 15.0 mi (4:00 / mi)

I wanted to try to bike and lift today...but my body is tired, and my calves are super sore/tight. So, I just spun for an hour...just enough to move the body and do something.

Sunday Jun 22, 2014 #

Running (FKT) 7:12:30 [1] 20.0 mi (21:37 / mi) +8500ft 15:25 / mi

Kelsey and I realized that there was no female FKT for the Presi Traverse, so we decided to set it. We hiked (ran when we could) on extremely tired legs after our Washington races, but finished the route in 7:12:30.

I am pretty tired after this weekend!

Saturday Jun 21, 2014 #

Running (Mt. Washington) 2:45:00 [4] 18.0 mi (9:10 / mi)

Ran Mt. Washington Road Race. Warmed up ~2 miles (18 minutes) easy with the girls. Then, the race was on! I ran smart/conservative to start, and was determine to run every step - my time goal was to run between 1:30 and 1:32.

Luckily, I had Erik who paced me thru the first 2 miles, then I worked off Dawn's pace until just before halfway. Then, game on, as I aimed to pass females one at a time. I worked my way up to 13th place, and surprised myself with a 1:27:50 finish time - running every step of the way.

I ran down afterward, enjoying the view and marveling at what I had accomplished!

Friday Jun 20, 2014 #

Running (Easy run) 1:00:00 [1] 6.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Easy run around Amherst College with Jess and Frank. Loved being on those trails again, and we saw a Great Horned Owl, with a squirrel in his mouth, super close up. Great run! Legs were just a bit sluggish as I started - this week was supposed to be an easy week, but shaped up to be a bit more...oh well!

Thursday Jun 19, 2014 #

Walking ('Wogging') 40:00 [1] 4.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Did a half walk/half run with Steph around Amherst College and the trails. Just wanted to see her before she left for her big trip! :)

Running (Trail run) 1:10:00 [1] 7.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Easy run on Earl's Trails by Laura's house. Felt just a bit fatigued, but not bad. Went easy, so the heat didn't seem as bad as other afternoons.

Wednesday Jun 18, 2014 #

Running (Trail run) 1:20:00 [1] 8.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Run at Sugarloaf with Molly and Jason. I figured I'd be completely toasted, but I felt ok...it was super muggy - I was dripping at the end.

Tuesday Jun 17, 2014 #

Running (Trail run) 1:20:00 [1] 8.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Ran easy trails with Molly around Sugarloaf. I must have been a bit sluggish, because this is slightly slower for the same loop. Oh well!

Running (Trail running) 2:25:00 [1] 16.0 mi (9:04 / mi)

Did a long (mostly) trail run with Brad after work. Ran from Sugarloaf to the ski slope and back (taking a bit of creativity in the route). It was hot (90-degrees) and muggy...I ran strong until about the 2 hour mark, then had to run/walk the last few miles back to the car. I don't know why Brad and I always somehow have these epic runs!

Monday Jun 16, 2014 #

Weights 30:00 [3]

Did lower body weights at my house - trying to keep it up...

Sunday Jun 15, 2014 #

Running (Road Race) 1:00:00 [4] 8.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Did Ribfest 5 mile race - warmed up a few miles, then did the 5 mile race (32:40), then cooled down about a mile. Wish I got in a few more miles...but everyone was collectively a bit lazy. Oh well!

Race went mostly ok - it's about a minute slower than my PR, but I'm not doing much speed now, so I think it's a good time. Ran fairly consistently for the miles (given uphill/downhill, wind in face) - approx. 6:40 (uphill, into wind), 6:30, 6:35, 6:35, 6:20 (downhill, wind at back). I was extremely pleased to have outsprinted someone from a rival team into the finish line.

Saturday Jun 14, 2014 #

Running (Trail run) 3:05:00 [1] 20.0 mi (9:15 / mi)

Long run on Earl's Trails - did first 90 minutes with Ashley, then did next 90 minutes with Laura. Felt good, relaxing pace...

Friday Jun 13, 2014 #

Running (VT100 Course Check) 4:00:00 [1] 20.0 mi (12:00 / mi)

Did trail checks on the VT100 course - mile 70 - finish, but drove some sections (and got lost to tack on a few miles)...all in all, a good run. It was raining, and super dreary...glad to have company to check the trails.

Thursday Jun 12, 2014 #

Running (Easy run) 55:00 [1] 6.0 mi (9:10 / mi)

Ran easy with Abby - pregnancy pace for the first 4 miles, then dropped her off to do another 2 on my own. I felt a bit sluggish, but maybe the last week or so of hard stuff is just catching up with me?

Wednesday Jun 11, 2014 #

Running (Trail run) 1:25:00 [1] 9.0 mi (9:27 / mi)

Ran around and up and down Sugarloaf with Molly and Jason. Felt good, a bit tired on the last climb (up S. Sugarloaf).

Running (Hill repeats) 1:30:00 [3] 10.5 mi (8:34 / mi)

Did hill repeats with the girls - the 'B51 workout' (B17 x 3). Last year, I had such a great workout - and this year it was dreadful! I guess it was a good reminder to take it easy and respect the climbing. I did 11:15 for my first, and wanted to go faster for each - did 11:20, 11:45. Uugh! I just felt tired, the legs felt heavy, and I struggled, especially on the last one.

Tuesday Jun 10, 2014 #

Running (Trail run) 1:15:00 [1] 8.0 mi (9:22 / mi)

Easy trail run w/ Molly at Sugarloaf. She's getting to enjoy the trails a bit...yay! I feel just a hair sluggish, but not bad. It was mega sticky this morning - no views along the way either (unless you count white)...just one of those mornings.

Weights 1:00:00 [3]

Lifted - upper and lower body at the gym with Steph.

Monday Jun 9, 2014 #

Biking (Spinning) 1:00:00 [1] 15.0 mi (4:00 / mi)

Easy spin at home, while it rained outside. I'll admit, I'm a bit tired after all my craziness in the past week - so I took it easy and spun instead of going for a run. Hopefully it means I can do better in runs this week.

Sunday Jun 8, 2014 #

Running (Greylock run) 3:15:00 [3] 20.0 mi (9:45 / mi)

Did my annual run up Greylock - warmed up a few miles, then did 8 miles up the auto road (like last year). Finished in 1:15, same time as last year - not bad, considering I was essentially time-trialing, I had no one near me at all to work with. Brian met me at the top, and we ran the trails down - got a bit turned around, and ran a LONG way down, took 2 hours! I was pretty wiped by the end.

Yoga 15:00 [1]

Kristin's friend met us at the top of Greylock, and did yoga with us. It was amazing! :)

Saturday Jun 7, 2014 #

Running (Long trail run) 3:20:00 [1] 20.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Ran around Sugarloaf with Molly for a few hours - she did well, is a good trail runner! I ran from my house and back to add a bit of extra time. Then, I went up to the Ridge to run another easy hour with Sara. Great to get in a long run, even if I had to split it with a few ladies...it was fun!

Friday Jun 6, 2014 #

Running intervals (Track workout) 1:00:00 [3] 8.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Ran a workout with Ashley - went to the Smith Track to do intervals. Warmed up ~20 minutes on the trails, then did 4 x 800 repeats - two on the track (3:03, 3:04), two on the gravel road around the track (actual distance - 0.55 mi, did 3:18, 3:17). Goal was supposed to be 6:15-6:20 pace (so 3:07-3:10 for the 800s, 3:26-3:29 for the gravel ones). Oh well, this felt hard but not killer. Cooled down ~20 minutes on the trails.

I have no idea how I'm pulling such great workouts off, especially being just completed Cayuga and recently Massanutten - but I'll take it I guess!

Thursday Jun 5, 2014 #

Weights 1:00:00 [3]

Back in the gym - lifted legs and upper body...I'll feel it tomorrow, but glad to be back in the routine.

Running (Trail run) 1:30:00 [1] 9.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Ran trails at Laura's house - loop on Earl's Trails. Felt good, legs a bit sore from lifting this morning, but not too bad.

Wednesday Jun 4, 2014 #

Running (Trail run) 1:20:00 [2] 7.5 mi (10:40 / mi)

Ran ridge trail and through Eaglebrook with Molly. Legs feel mostly ok, except for trying to keep up with Molly on the uphills. :) It was an incredibly sticky morning - yuck!!!

Running (Hill repeats) 1:15:00 [3] 8.0 mi (9:22 / mi)

Hill work at Mt. Tom - warmed up the long way around Whiting, then did once up B17, and once up the ski slope before recovering. I don't know how I did it, but my B17 was my fastest ever - I ran a 10:50! (I'm guess it's because Ashley was running so hard, and I just tried to keep close to her!) Then, ran the ski slope, didn't get a time on that one. Felt tired, but surprised that my times were great!

Tuesday Jun 3, 2014 #

Running (Trail run) 1:10:00 [1] 6.0 mi (11:40 / mi)

Easy trail run with Sara - walked the uphills, and ran the ridge to the ski slope and back. Legs feel ok, tired - but not bad. No particular soreness or stiffness...just fatigue.

Monday Jun 2, 2014 #

Walking (Hike) 45:00 [1] 2.0 mi (22:30 / mi)

Hiked up Sugarloaf and back down with Brian - legs feel tired, but ok. Great day out, really wanted to do something...

Weights 30:00 [1]

Lifted upper body and core at the gym with Steph. Used super low weight, wanted to ease into...especially since the upper body is actually a bit sore/tired. We just wanted to get into the habit again...

Sunday Jun 1, 2014 #

Running race (Ultra Race) 9:12:00 [3] 50.0 mi (11:02 / mi)

Ran Cayuga Trails 50 - this being only 2 weeks after MMT100, I wanted to take it easy and hoped to finish - I didn't have any lofty expectations. The course changed a bit from last year - the RD took out several stair sections - and added sadistic climbs up, higher than the stairs, and then dropped you back onto the trail - basically, 2,000 feet of vert. total in the already hilly race.

I took it easy in the early miles, and relaxed...stayed consistent, and wound up picking my way up the field. I finished only 15 minutes slower than last year, and in 5th place female. On the US Championship side, that was good enough for the bronze. My legs felt good - I got a bit tired/unfocused around 35-40 miles, but was able to keep it together and run strong and steady throughout.
