Running (Tempo Run) 1:11:00 [3] 10.2 mi (6:58 / mi)

Tempo run w/ the girls - warmed up ~2 miles (downhill - 15 min), then did tempo for 40 minutes (6 miles trending uphill), and cooled down for ~2 miles (16 minutes). Felt mostly ok...got dropped early in the tempo, but found out later that the girls were doing closer to 6:20 pace, so I guess I was still doing well. Was pleased with my effort, felt good to stretch the stridge out and do a longer tempo run. Phew!

Easy run on Earl's Trails w/ Brad. Got in a few miles before I met him, and ran into Alex...I tried to stay with her (she was on a mtn. bike), but that only lasted about 5 minutes, with her braking and me sprinting! Oh well, then I returned to pick up Brad and do an easy hour on the trails. Glad to see that he's back running again. Legs felt mostly ok...glad they are finally getting under me!

Easy run w/ Aaron at Sugarloaf - don't know the exact distance, but we were obviously dragging since we typically make it to the 'real top' of N. Sugarloaf before we turn around, and today we turned around a bit earlier. Oh well.

Running (TRR) 4:29:00 [4] 26.0 mi (10:21 / mi) +5000ft 8:45 / mi

Stage 6 of TRR. The route was long (advertised as 19 miles, but really 23+ miles)...and then Dave and I took a wrong turn and added on about 3 miles. I will contest that the turn was poorly marked, as many others took that incorrect turn also. Unfortunate to end the race on this note. Felt strong, and was able to really push the pace to the end.

Stage 5 of TRR. Felt great - was basically running the same pace as Dave on this day. After last year's disasterous run on Stage 5, I really wanted to focus on running this strong and getting to enjoy Vail. It was a great day!

Stage 4 of TRR. Felt mostly ok for this stage, but not 110% - not after Dave took it out super hard from the start. I lost my confidence on the downhill and know I lost some time there. But, it was a super fun stage and great to be done super early.

Stage 3 of TRR - Dave and I decided to take this day slightly easier than the first two days, to allow our bodies to recover and be ready for 3 more days. It was great - my legs felt great and I was able to push the pace even in the later miles. Dave basically let me set the pace. We had a ton of fun out there!

Stage 2 of TRR - the big one, up and over Hope Pass. Legs felt great today, and I was able to climb strong and really work the descent. It was a great day to be out...except for the llama trying to trip me (who does that really happen to?!?). Glad my legs felt much better after yesterday's disaster. Phew. :)

Stage 1 of TRR - horrible day! In hindsight, I think that Dave and I just didn't know how to race well together, so he pushed super hard at the start...I tried to keep up, and we both exploded super early and suffered in the heat and late race rollers. Disappointing. My legs felt like they were completely dead and I had no energy. Hopefully things will turn around for the next 5 days (but what are the odds of that?!?).

Day off - basically a travel day, doing the car transer, picking up Ross, Ashley, and Dave along the way. My legs are totally tired after a week of playing with Brian, but on the other hand, I have so much nervous energy that I maybe should have done something. Oh well!

No idea the distance, but I just ran easy from our camping spot in Frisco - up and down the trail a bit. Legs felt ok, but still considering how tired they have been I took it easy and short to allow them to recovery for TRR. Hope they come around by then. :)

Easy run around some Aspen trails. I felt great on the climb, but then had a slight mental breakdown and hiked good portions of the run. Brian and I eventually made it back to the car, but I was hating life for a long time on this run. Unfortunate - it was beautiful trails...but I was jsut tired and feeling weak.

Easy jog at the 'Maroon Bells' in Aspen. I felt super sluggish, but we did a bit of a run to see them. It was a nice area to be out in - would love to really do the whole 'loop' at some point, or at least get further into the run if possible.

Hiked La Plata - another 14,000 footer. Felt good, enjoyed running down the switchbacks on the return...but the hike up took forever and was pretty technical.

Hiked Mt. Elbert - highest peak in Colorado. Nice run in on the Colorado Trail in the early/late miles. Saw Anton out there...pretty amazing.

Hiked 'Democratic Ross' (3 x 14,000 footers) in Colorado. Felt much better - was able to run the downhills.

Ran easy around Turquois Lake - felt good even with hiking this morning.

Again, no idea the actual distance of our run, but Brian and I did an easy run around some mountain biking trails in Steamboat Springs (Emerald Mountain). We took it easy, but with mtn. bike trails it was easy to be able to run up the climbs. Felt much better - hip flexor/quad didn't really bother me at all, which was nice.

No idea the distance of our run - Brian and I stopped at the pass near Winter Park and did a hike up and run down there. It was going from sea-level to running at 11,000 feet within 24 hours, so it was tough and we were breathing hard. I felt mostly ok during the run, but puked my guts out a few hours afterwards.

Day off - between traveling to Colorado and a Dr. Weiss appointment, it was a no-brainer to take the day off. Plus, it's my birthday so I had to do something nice for myself!

Running (Hill sprints) 1:15:00 [3] 10.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Warmed up for about 5 miles with Annie at the Res, then did 2 x 8 hill sprints up to the upper Res. I feel sluggish, but mostly it's that once we started going up and down the hip flexor started to really hurt. I struggled through it, and immediately made an appointment to see Dr. Weiss. Cooled down back to the cars.
