Easy run in Amherst with Mike and Aaron J - ran around the bike path and trails in town (including Amherst College trails). Totally rainy this morning, so it was a slog out there...but glad to have the run done for the day. :)

Easy run w/ Sarah in E'town. Ran from her house to Nonotuck Park, and around the roads and trails in there and back on the bike path. Great day to be outside! Leaves were down on the trails, and it was a bit tricky in there.

Easy run w/ the girls...a bit slow, but the wind was starting to gust a bit so we took it easy. Great to run before work, since I don't know when I'll get out of work tonight....and I don't know how bad the weather will get over the next day or two.

Easy run around Mt. Tom w/ Nick and Frank. Felt a bit sluggish, but oh well - I think it's just the climbing at Mt. Tom that gets to me, or the lack of sleep lately. Great to be out on an awesome fall day.

Attempted Tussey Mountainback 50 miler...but dropped at mile 25. I'm not seriously injured, but it was certainly much more road and hard pack than I thought and my hammies seized up (as they always do) after about 20 miles of that surface. Nothing I could do - if the course was a bit more inspiring perhaps I could have shuffled through it, but I really wasn't having fun and don't feel like I have anything left I need to prove by finishing. Hard to walk away, but I know that it's for the best...for me.

Easy run around Noho and Smith Trails with Amanda. Amanda had a rough day and fell a few times...so we just relaxed the pace and tried to stay in more well lit areas...but felt good to shake out the legs.

Did a bit of orienteering practice with Peter G. at the Notch. Was super helpful to run the trails I knew, but try to follow along on the map, pointing out features along the way. Will have to do more on my own, now that I have a feel for it...need to remember how to do this! :)

Easy long run w/ Kelsey - did point-to-point on M&M from Harris Mountain to Amethyst. I don't know the exact distance, but I think it's around 20ish. Of course, we got lost for a bit and ran roads while we tried to find the trail again. Fun day!

Super easy long run w/ Chris H., Frank B., and Kelsey B - we went up to Pisgah SP. Had a great run, was super stiff and ran super easy (hiked a bunch, took in the views)...was just super relaxing and awesome to run with different company and not worry about pace or distance.

Did the Hatfield Harvest 5k race...distaster! Warmed up about 2.5 miles easy, and was dripping with sweat - man, it was humid! So, started the race strong and did the first mile in just over 6 min...then I felt the 'I don't f-ing care if I race or not' mixed with the sloppy sand of the rest of the course, and I dropped some slow times to finish just under 21 minutes - for my slowest 5k in years. Oh well...just gotta take it as it is and not worry about it.

Easy run w/ Sarah on the Earl's Trails loop. Felt good and were moving well...until it got dark, then we took our time and tried not to fall. Great run!

Ran w/ Amanda around Noho and on Smith trails. Felt much better today, once I was moving. Still a bit stiff with the stride, but in general doing well!

Easy run/hike with Steph at Sugarloaf. We ran to the trails, and hiked the steep trail up N. Sugarloaf (and enjoyed the views at the top!), then scurried down the slippery trails on the back side and around again to the front and down. It was raining and wet, and we hiked a bit of the hills, but it was great to get out and enjoy the trails and views with Steph. :)

Super easy shuffle with the girls this morning around Noho (Amanda, Laura and Sarah). Felt stiff but it was great to move everything. The hammies got a bit tight towards the end, but oh well.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3] 2.0 mi (30:00 / mi)

Ok, so Alex informed me we went 2 miles in that hour...she took me for a bit of orienteering practice. We did a 'line drill' or whatever it's called, and then did a bit of 'follow me', which I was really bad at. But, I had some fun and dusted off the orienteering skills. Amazing how much stuff comes back quickly just from talking orienteering with someone for an hour.
