Trail run at Sugarloaf w/ Molly. Felt great, able to do well on the climbs...which was great.

Ran at Mt. Toby with Karin and Nancy. Felt good, pushed the uphill for funsies. I'm a bit tired/sore from yesterday's race, but otherwise the knee feels better each day and the quad is better now from Wednesday's fall.

Ran Bridge of Flowers 10k race with my team. I have never had a good 10k experience, so I've avoided them in the past. This seemed the perfect opportunity to give it a shot, and hopefully do well for my team.

We warmed up about 2.5 - 3 miles easy around Shelburne Falls (beautiful town!). Then, the race was on. I took it relatively easy, trying to tempo the first two miles (6:40, 6:40/13:20), then came the hill (8:40/22:00), then the screaming downhill (6:00/28:00). The last two miles, I fell into a maintenance pace - keeping my place (6:40/34:40) until someone came whipping by me easily and I realized I had more in the tank, so I pushed harder (last 1.2 mile in 7:21, 6:08/mile pace). I finished in 42:01, a great time for that course, and in general, a smart and strong race. I surprised myself with 6th place female. Yay!

Cooled down for 1/2 hour with the team - then headed to awards to watch my teammates dominate the podium, and to receive the team award (since we won!).

Note

I took the day off to allow my knee to heal - it's pretty swollen and the gash gets opened up if I bend the leg too far. At least the quad is getting better each day.

Trail run w/ Erik and Howie at the Notch - did the hilly side...felt good, except that I fell on my bad knee with about 2 steps to go - completely cut it open. Oh boy!!!

Trail run with Laura - felt good except for the knee - I opened up the wound (it's a pretty deep gash on the knee cap) during the run. Yikes! But, the quad feels better with every step.

Ran w/ Jason at the Notch, felt good, a bit tired...but good. Nice to get back to the habit of training again.

Ran the easy trails around Amherst College with Howie. Somehow, I managed to wipe-out pretty bad and bashed my quad - it hurts pretty bad. Otherwise, felt good.

Easy trail run on Earl's Trails with Ruthie. Felt good - a bit tired still, but once we were moving all was good. Back/shoulder was ok today.

Ran w/ Aaron at Sugarloaf - he felt not so great (had a big lunch), so we went easy and a bit shorter...I was ok with that. I'm a bit tired!

Easy shake-out run with Abby...running at her 'pregnancy pace'. My legs are a bit tired, so this was perfectly ok! My back was pretty stiff during the run, so I'm a bit nervous...hopefully it'll just keep getting better each day.

Did a loop over the Twins, Zealand, and over to Hale in the Whites with Kristina. Legs are pretty trashed, but was able to move fairly well still. Back was a bit of an issue...but again, did well enough to be fine. I am going to be tired after this weekend's adventures!!!

Pemi Loop! This was a bucket list run for sure! I did this with Kristina, and we just took our time and had some fun...and ended up running fairly well. I got a bit tired towards the end, the last climbs were horrible! Oh well - glad to finish that epic hike! My back was a bit tender towards the end, but I survived. Yay!

Did a hike/run in the Whites with Brian - did the Tripyramids, and were trying to do Whiteface and Passaconaway, but we lost the trail at some point (there was some blowdown that altered the trail through that section). Whatever, we had a great hike and got a few peaks.
