Easy trail run around Earl's with Liz.

XC Team Run (Pacing duties) 25:00 [3] 2.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Helped at xc practice - warmed up a lap before pacing a group of girls to a 7:30 mile. Then, paced the fastest guy (for 3/4 mile) to a 5:40 mile (that hurt a bit...). Did a bit of cool down with them also.

Acted as an angel pacer for Kate, finishing her first 100 miler in under 24 hours! Someone was asking to see if she could have company for the last 10 miles, so I jumped in and paced her. Was awesome to pay it forward after Chad pacing me at Leadville, and Josh pacing me at Grindstone.

Ghost Train - wanted to get in a long run...would have stopped at mile 30, but then jumped in to pace Jake for another 15 miles (so he could finish with a new 100 mile PR!). Tons of fun to be at the race and crew/support friends!!!

Fartlek run with Kate - ran from her house towards Atkins Reservoir...easy 20 minutes, then did 12 x 30-60 second pickups with good recovery between each. Felt good, quad didn't bother me.

XC Team Run (Coaching) 20:00 [1] 2.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

Helped at xc practice - warmed up quickly with the girls, then paced a group in the timed mile (finished in 6:35, felt great!). Cool down was running to a Town park and back.

Easy run with Liz at Mt. Tom - stayed on the flat stuff.

Road run with Sarah around Sugarloaf (and neighborhood). Quad bothering me (I tried to roll it out before she came over)...but otherwise felt good. Fatigue seems to be working itself out of my legs...phew!!!

Walked to Sugarloaf and back, hiking up the mtn. with Annie and Sophia. Legs feel ok on the flat stuff, but going up/down was a bit hairy. Yikes!!!

Running race (Grindstone 100) 23:39:00 [3] 101.8 mi (13:56 / mi)

Grindstone 100 - what a day. Felt great (but likely went out too hard) early on. Climbing legs were dead at mile 35, and I figured I was done after that. Did my best to hold on...lowest point was falling asleep while hiking up to mile 55. But, rallied (with the help on an amazing pacer) to finish strong and win my first 100 miler, while breaking 24 hours (which was the goal of the day). Woohoo! I hurt so bad!!!

Road run with Charlotte and Mel around Northampton. Great run, and great company. Had to push it a bit in the first few miles to keep up...but we settled into a great pace.

Ran Midstate Trail from Mt. Watatic to Mt. Watchusett, with Jake, Chad, and Kyle. Great group, easy pace...great day to be out...but would have preferred a 100-miler.
