Snowshoe (Snowshoe race) 1:20:00 [4] 8.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Curly's snowshoe race - warmed up ~2 miles (20 min) - ran on snowy trails and down access road (w/ Nick, Wayne, and Carolyn). Then, did the snowshoe race - extremely tough course (with crazy uphill for first 20 minutes, then screaming downhill for 5 minutes, then flat for the last 13 minutes) - felt strong on the uphill and was passing a ton of folks who were walking (but my calves were cramping at the top) - finished in 38:32. Then, doubled back to run in Nick, and doubled back to run in Amanda - then did cool down with Ross, Chris, Nick, and Jim - ran first 1/2 mile of the course and back. Felt good, but know I will feel all this snowshoe effort tomorrow!

Snowshoe (Long run) 2:45:00 [1] 16.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

No idea on the distance - Brian and I went out for a long snowshoe run on the snowmobile trails in Conway (and beyond). Felt great for the first part (didn't realize it was all downhill!), and towards the end when we were climbing the unrelenting hills, I could feel the calves cramp up a bit, and my energy starting to fade. Oh well - I should have taken some shotblox or gels with me. Great run, fun trails! Assuming, since the trails were groomed, that we did 10 min/mile, but don't really know.

Running (Tempo run) 1:06:00 [3] 8.8 mi (7:30 / mi)

Ran w/ Annie in Westfield. Did relaxed run, but picked it up to 'tempo' pace for the last several miles. Don't know our exact splits. Felt great to have that in me on a Friday morning!

Cross country skiing (Classical skiing) 50:00 [1] 12.0 km (4:10 / km)

Again, no idea on the distance - went skiing w/ Brian at the golf course. We broke trail for a good portion of the ski, but had a lot of fun! :) Barely got to use my arms...the snow was too deep for using poles.

Running intervals (Track workout) 1:05:00 [3] 9.0 mi (7:13 / mi)

Indoor track workout w/ Kim and Brian - did ~2 miles warmup easy. Then, did 2 sets of 4 x 800 @ goal pace 3:15. 200 recovery easy between each interval - 400 recovery between each set. Actual pace was: 3:14, 3:14, 3:13, 3:13, 3:14, 3:13, 3:13, 3:12. Felt good, relaxed - was able to hit the goal pace without working too hard. Easy ~2 miles cool down afterwards. The toe knuckle ached a bit at the beginning of the run, but calmed down after a few miles. :)

Running (Easy run) 55:00 [1] 7.0 mi (7:51 / mi)

Easy run w/ Brian at the Holyoke Res. With the (yet again) impending snow for tomorrow, I got in my double session easy run tonight. Could feel that this was my second day in a row of doubles, and that I had done the track that morning...but once I got rolling it was great. Loved the easy recovery run.

Running (Easy run) 1:21:00 [1] 10.2 mi (7:56 / mi)

Easy am run w/ Annie from my house. Did the loop with the hills, but felt really good on the run. We were a bit more relaxed with our pace than normal - there was about 2 inches of new snow on the ground to run on. I was glad for the microspikes...but also felt like they supported the knuckle on the left foot - so that didn't hurt that much today.

Running (Easy run) 58:00 [1] 7.0 mi (8:17 / mi)

Easy run w/ Nick at the Holyoke Reservoir. The pace was slow since there was several inches of loose snow and ice around the reservoir, so we relaxed, enjoyed the pace, and chatted. Great relaxing run. Again, ran using Kahtoolas, so the knuckle was supported and didn't hurt much.

Circuits 30:00 [0]

AM circuits at my house - pushups, leg lifts, air squats.

Snowshoe (Easy run) 1:00:00 [1] 6.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Easy run w/ Erik at Earl's Trails - we did close to the same loop as last Friday, however the trails were much more packed down...so the going was easier. Really loved the relaxed pace - but could feel the left heal (since it has no skin!), and the knuckle on the left big toe (which has been aching again...but it's different than before). Luckily the foot was ok for the run, but it's getting pretty beat up this winter. Glad the cold is mostly at bay - just some congestion to deal with.
