Running (Training run & short race) 1:13:00 [3] 10.0 mi (7:18 / mi)

So, the plan was to do 2 runs to get in my 20 miles (and still stick to the cleanse diet). This was the first part of the run - doing the Jail Break 5k race. I warmed up with Jeff, running the course (3.2 miles, 24 min), then did a bit more on my own (0.5 mi?, 4 min). Then, the race - where I ran an unbelievable 18:39! That's a new PR by almost 30 seconds! I double checked the distance of the course to make sure it was legit, and it measured at 3.15 miles...phew. Cooled down by running the course again (3.2 miles, 25 min). Legs felt great, but my energy started to tank in the cool down, I got a cramp, and I was a hair light headed...so I went home and ate more food. First mile downhill (5:42), second mile flat/uphill (11:45), third mile big uphill and rollers (18:39 @3.15).

Biking (Spinning) 30:00 [1] 7.0 mi (4:17 / mi)

Easy spinning on the bike. After I finished the first half of my day, I needed to get in 10 more miles...but I was feeling 'iffy' from the cleanse diet, so I didn't trust myself to get out on the trails on my own. I decided to spin instead, so I would be at home and able to deal if the energy tanked. After about 1/2 hour, the energy did tank, and it didn't take much convincing for Brian to get me to stop.

Running (Easy run) 1:02:00 [1] 8.1 mi (7:39 / mi)

Easy run w/ Abby and Kim around Kim's new house. I'm loving the area, with running thru cute neighborhoods and on the sidewalks of the quaint town. Only wish there weren't as many road crossing, which makes for a bit of stop-and-go.

XC Team Run (Coaching) 45:00 [1] 4.0 mi (11:15 / mi)

This was part sprinting around, part walking/previewing the course...but I did a ton of 'movement' as I was coaching my team.

XC Team Run (Easy preview run) 35:00 [1] 3.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Easy course preview at WNEC. This was somewhat discontinuous, since we stopped at each mile marker to regroup, but whatever. Nice to have an easy day.

Running (Easy run) 1:03:00 [1] 8.0 mi (7:52 / mi)

Easy run around Holyoke Res (trails) with Frank and Greg...felt good to stretch the legs out, but stay on mostly flat ground.

XC Team Run (Pacing team) 25:00 [1] 2.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Ran some of the workout with the team - but did warm-up and cool-down with the team, plus a few of their intervals. Legs are tight, but whatever.

Running (Track workout) 1:10:00 [3] 9.25 mi (7:34 / mi)

Track workout with Kim and Abby. Warmed up from Abby's house to Holyoke HS track (2.3 miles easy), then did Abby's torture workout - 3 x 1200, 4 x 400. I wanted to be between 6:00 - 6:10 pace for the 1200s (4:30 - 4:38 for 1200), but my legs just didn't seem to want to turn over or move at all today! Started out with 4:52, 4:50, 4:50...man, I was dragging! Then, did 400s and had the goal to turn the legs over and hopefully break 90 for each - the legs started responding, and hit 86, 86, 86, 84. Not great, but not bad. Half-time recovery between each. Cool down back to Abby's house (2.2 miles). Overall, I'm not pleased with the workout, but glad I got it done.

Running (Easy run) 1:25:00 [1] 10.0 mi (8:30 / mi)

Ran an easy afternoon run w/ Brad, doing the 'lap' on Earl's Trails from the Notch. My legs are a bit sluggish on my climbs, but oh well. Was supposed to do this afternoon (double session) on Thursday, but with going to calling hours for my friend's dad and coaching...it just wasn't going to work out to get in enough miles tomorrow, so I did it today instead. I will pay for that, since it is two longer days in a row, but at least the next few days are easier.

Running (Easy run) 59:00 [2] 8.1 mi (7:17 / mi)

Easy run around Holyoke w/ Annie - but added a short bit of 'tempo' to get Annie's legs ready for her half marathon on Saturday. So, we did the roads half of the Holyoke loop in 34 min (4.5 miles) then did 'tempo' of 2.3 miles (16 min/just under 7s, which felt comfortably hard...Annie went way faster and left me in the dust), and ended with 1.2 easy miles (9 min).

XC Team Run (Easy run) 38:00 [1] 5.0 mi (7:36 / mi)

Easy run around Holyoke Res. with the team - really, Abby, Matt and I ran and it was great for us to chat as a coaching staff...over a run.

XC Team Run (Pacing run) 1:00:00 [2] 8.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Ok, so no idea on the distance (or exact time), but hopefully pretty close. Warmed up as a team at WNEC, easy running. Then, the team did 2 sets of 3 min, 2 min, 1 min (half time recovery), I paced Jessie and Rachel, so the pace was just a hair faster than I would be doing for an easy run. Then, jogged out to the field area, and did the last mile or so of the course as 1 minute surges (with 1 min off). Jogged around the field a bit to cool down.
