Snowshoe (Snowshoe Race) 2:20:00 [3] 15.0 mi (9:20 / mi)
ahr:166 max:174

Day 2 of US Snowshoe Nationals - Half Marathon Race! My legs were a bit tired...still, I wanted to be in the mix in this race. I went out with Erik for the first 1/2 lap, then he pulled away just a bit...but I kept working off him to keep my pace honest. At that point, I was in 2nd place female, and wanted to see if I could hold on. The next female would get closer on the flat/fast sections and I would pull away in the single track section. Even on tiring legs, I managed to pull away and finish in 1:59:05. (Negative splitting, ever so slightly, since my first lap was almost exactly 1 hour, so the 2nd one was 59-minutes).

Legs were pretty done post-race, but did a few miles (warm-up and cool down).

Snowshoe (Snowshoe Race) 1:16:00 [3] 8.5 mi (8:56 / mi)
ahr:174 max:180

Day 1 of US Snowshoe Nationals - 10k race. This course was mostly flat, hard packed, and didn't suit my strengths at all...it was a road runners race. However, I had a goal of breaking top 10. The leaders went out fairly easy, so I was just behind them for the first 3-4 km...then, the dropped the hammer and I was running all alone in 8th place - with no one in sight ahead or behind. I'll admit, at this point, I relaxed and did what I could to defend the position while leaving a bit in the tank for tomorrow's race. Finished in 8th place in 51:10ish.

Warm-up and cool down were about 2.5 miles total.

Snowshoe 22:00 [1] 2.0 mi (11:00 / mi)

Super easy snowshoe run to shake out the legs...also to preview the last mile of tomorrow's course. Legs feel stiff from the long drive, but in general they will be fine to race tomorrow...

Note

Took Wednesday and Thursday off from training - I wanted to be well rested for this weekend's races, plus with travel and packing and all, I just couldn't fit it in.

I did do a bit of stretching/yoga - for what it's worth.

Running (Track workout) 57:00 [3] 7.0 mi (8:09 / mi)
ahr:127 max:178

Track workout - just cause it's -15 outside...but my legs are in no shape for that. We decided to do a long warm-up, then do repeat 800s at Jones pace...really just to break up the monotony of the track. Warmed up 15 minutes, then did 3:39, 3:38, 3:38, 3:27, 3:27 (with 600 recovery between). Cool down was 10 minutes. Legs feel a bit fatigued...but not too bad.

Weights (Lifting) 45:00 [3]

Lifted at the gym - did a bit of lower body, but mostly upper body and core...want to save the legs just a bit for this weekend.

Running (Road run) 53:00 [1] 6.2 mi (8:33 / mi)
ahr:148 max:166

Easy run around Holyoke with Abby and Laura. I feel a bit tired today, but otherwise a-ok after yesterday's effort. Roads were pretty sloppy...I almost fell on some black ice, but luckily I saved it. :)
