Running race 2:51:00 [4] 10.0 mi (17:06 / mi) +145m 16:22 / mi
shoes: New Balance RC1001 Flats

Lemont Quarryman 10-Miler. In rain and wind. Up and down the hillside three times. Very slow compared w 2:29 last year. Don't know why; just older I guess. Last person in the race by a country mile. So constantly harassed by sweep vehicles. So much for my $100 investment in a 'nice run in the fresh country air..' Not particularly pleasant experience.

NordicTrak 10:00 [3]

Erg rowing 9:38 [3] 2.0 km (4:49 / km)

Two 1000m pieces. Not as traumatic as Sunday. Included was 1000m at 4:32.3. My best time last season was 4:07. So a long way to go.

Wonderful day of golf yesterday. Caught early train to Elgin, then a bus connection, and I was on the driving range by 7:30, hitting drives in the brilliant morning sun. The Highlands is a new course, built on hills overlooking the Fox River, with lots of elevation changes, drives across deep arroyos, and blind shots over hillcrests. So unique in the Chicago area...and a lot of fun!

City running 2:17:00 [3] 8.1 mi (16:55 / mi) +10m 16:51 / mi
shoes: New Balance 610AR

Cancelled a perfectly fine day of golf in order to get in this run...as a last prep for the Lemont 10-Mile hill run on Saturday. Beautiful sunny, breezy spring day. Run included six miles along the Lakefront...wonderful!

NordicTrak 10:00 [3]

Erg rowing 9:18 [3] 2.0 km (4:39 / km)

First day of 2016-17 Concept II personal rankings. And I'm #1 in my 70-79 age group at this point! Chest still congested from lingering effects of the cold from two weeks ago.

Incredibly difficult after laying off for three weeks. Barely got it done. And I've got a ten-mile run coming up next weekend. So don't know how much more rowing I'm going to be doing.
