A new PR for the 2k...8:42.8 at a pace of 2:10.7 per 500m. So took a couple of seconds off my pace PR, and 9 seconds off my PR time, set last May. And less than a second over my PR from last season! So I hope following Charlie's advice, and doing more short, fast pieces will improve my 2k times for the big try at the Chicagoland record for 75-79's in a couple months.

Seventh day of rowing in a row. Developing some speed. Tore off a 5k piece only 9 seconds off my seasonal PR. Overall pace of 2:17.4. Feels good.

10k on Sunday morning, while snow fell softly outside, rising higher and higher on the basement window. Thought I might quit at 5k, then 6k, but by 7k I said what the hell? I'll just go all the way. Even tho I have no idea how much snow shoveling I'll have to do today. Could be more than an hour.

The 4" of snow was cold and very light. So not a problem this morning, shoveling in the sunshine in 5 degree weather. L trains were running often fortunately, so it was a quick back-and-forth to get to all my shoveling responsibilities and retreat inside for a third cup of coffee to try to warm up frozen hands and feet.

Another 1-2-3-4-3-2-1 minute ladder. Overall pace: 2:10.1 vs 2:14.7 for same ladder two weeks ago. Amazing! Distance splits; going out on left, coming back on right. All 'nicely negative:'

Felt a lot stronger, and not too exhausted at the end. But definitely an anaerobic workout for a 75-year old!
