Went for a 2000m PR, but fell short of last month's 8:42 by 10 seconds. Splits were poor:

First golf of 2017! Cool and gray. Only count half my actual time on the course, since I'm standing around the other half of the time. Actual elapsed time for round today: 2:10.

Rode bike over to golf course along Lake and played nine holes. Pretty exhausted by the time I got home, what with the rowing early this morning. But a surprisingly good round, despite the flooded bunkers, patches of ice and snow, and very soft fairways. All things considered, a good day.

Long, slow distance following yesterday's repeats. Just a couple 20-stroke 'pick-ups.' Generally no energy. Gonna try 9-holes of golk this morning. Pretty wet out, but it is going to be warm & sunny with light winds.

Another 'Charlie' workout: 8x500m with 60 seconds rest between each piece. A pre-programmed workout on the rower's computer. So very easy to execute. Pacing on each of the eight pieces:

2:28.7.....overall: 2:15.0

Started too fast. So had to do a 'reset' on the fourth piece. But a minute rest between each is just not enough for me at this point. Perhaps I'll get better.

Still a bit stiff from Saturday. And groin pull getting better. So a bit faster than yesterday. But still a relaxed session.

Stiff and sore through the first half of these workouts. Still some recovering muscles in back and legs. But overall, feel very good. Surprising how a long workout can inject a bit of interest and sense of achievement in a 75-year old, over-the-hill athlete.

Kinda like Soupbone at Greenbush yesterday...35k of XC skiing after very little so far this season. Wonder how he feels this morning? Bet he stays home and takes a long, soothing sauna with his wife in his backyard!

Saturday morning Half Marathon. Haven't done this much distance for a couple years...and it showed. Was in pain for the last 45 minutes: hips, shoulders, back. 2:50 slower than in 2015 for this distance. Could hardly get up the basement stairs when I finished 'cause of a pulled left groin muscle.

But if felt very good to have the weekend's primary workout over with at 7:15am Saturday morning....and that long, hot shower felt good too. Simple pleasures are sometimes the best.
