Running race 1:44:12 [4] 10.0 km (10:25 / km) +25m 10:17 / km
weight:179lbs shoes: New Balance RC1001 Flats

Beverly Ridge Run 10k. Placed 3rd of 3 runners. So another 'podium' finish...if I'd bothered to hang around to accept the trophy. Frankly the idea of handing out awards in these older, sparser age groups is a ridiculous waste of money.

Guys still running at 75 aren't doing it for the Glory and the awards. They're accepting much slower finishing times than ever before in their running careers. And they're happy just being able to finish. If anything, they might be competing with other age groups; but certainly not 75-79 guys. Why there was a half-hour between the three 75-79 finishers today! Hardly a competitive 'photo finish!'

Well I felt strangely light-headed ten minutes after finishing. A slow 10k, by a couple of minutes compared with last year. Saw spots, and had trouble focusing as I waited in the bright sun for my bus. Then later at home, very exhausted. Would like to take a nap, but have people coming over all afternoon.

Driving range 30:00 [1]

My buddy was buying new clubs; his were stolen from his hi-rise storage locker over the winter. So I went along. And spent quite a while testing out new clubs for myself. Came to the conclusion that my old clubs are more comfortable for me than anything new.

Erg rowing 23:28 [3] 5.0 km (4:42 / km)

58 000m so far this month...far more than any previous May. Hope to keep it up all summer to some extent.

But have 3 doctor appointments scheduled now...the first today. When you're in your late 70's, doctors seem to have nothing but bad news. Quite apprehensive.

Erg rowing 25:32 [3] 5.5 km (4:39 / km)

Included a 500m piece for time after the 5k...that was a mistake. Too exhausted to maintain desired pace, which fell off to 2:16 in third split. Oh well, something to improve on next fall.
