shoes: NewBalance NBX Flats

Oui Run 5k put on by The Lycée Français de Chicago. First race since surgery. Even slower than before. And very hot at 8am. But felt good, even if DFL for most of the race. Perfect race for today: 15 minute L train ride to within two blocks of packet pickup and the Start Line.

Third day of record-setting heat in Chicago. Was 94 yesterday! We're breaking records set as far back as the 1890's! Must have something to do with all the hurricanes, pushing warm Gulf air further north than normal. Another unexpected effect of Global Warming?

Big cool-off coming next week; highs will barely get out of the 50's! Hope I can avoid getting a chill and becoming sick from these wild temperature swings.

City running 46:00 [4] 2.2 mi (20:54 / mi) +5m 20:46 / mi

1pm. First run in the 90's. Felt just ok. Seeing a few spots before my eyes at the end. Selected an Intensity of 4, mainly because my heart felt like it was jumping out of my chest. But wearing 4 ECG sensors, with a cell phone in my pocket sending the readings back to a computer. No call from the cardiologist, so I guess I'm ok. But running without a shirt and all those wires hanging down, through city streets, i drew some interested stares. Especially when I hollered "Which way to the hospital?"

So signed up for a 5k Sunday morning. Do or Die!
