Shoveling 45:00 [3]

Another 3-4" to shovel. Tossing even higher on the piles that lines the sidewalk. Now may 3.5' high! Down to near zero tonight and clear. Then a warm up to the 40's by Thursday....and all my work will melt away.

Shoveling 1:00:00 [3]

Biggest snowfall of the season. 8" to 10" out front when I emerged at 8am...and still snowing! My trusty 24" spring-steel shovel broke under the strain of hoisting all that weight for my 100' frontage. So had to retreat to the basement and find nuts, bolts and lock-washers to pull it back together again.

Nice workout; sweating like a pig by the time I'd finished. Probably have to go back outside to shovel several more times, since there's a whole line-up of storms out west, heading right for Chicago.

Here's a neighborhood cam showing the back of Wrigley Field, under construction til Opening Day April 9, and the extent of our snowfall. What a mess! Why do people drive in these conditions? The L train station is just to the right of the picture!

NordicTrak 10:00 [3]

Erg rowing 14:40 [3] 3.0 km (4:53 / km)

Increased tension on both upper and lower Nordic Trak springs. Better workout...actually come over to the Concept II rower with a bit of a sweat. Take a day off from shoveling to rest up for tomorrow; supposed to get up to 15" by Friday night. Whew!

NordicTrak 10:00 [3]

Erg rowing 14:28 [3] 3.0 km (4:49 / km)

Short basement workout at 4:30am. Felt good after 6 days off. Leg has finally stopped oozing fluids. Now just two big holes that will have to slowly granulate and fill in, in the months ahead, with my daily vinegar soaks and Vaseline dressings.

Shoveling 25:00 [3]

Shower, shave, and soak. Then out to shovel off the 3" or so that fell overnight. Down to Peet's Coffee for the NYTimes and a large cup. And back to get Ralph started in the kitchen rehab downstairs, and watch the market open....up!!
