Lew Blond Memorial 5k, Northbrook. Nice course through the wet and leafy northshore suburbs. Five minutes slower than just last month. Tried some walking to see if that would improve the pace. Didn't work. My walking pace seems slower than ever. But no sign of shortness of breath; just slow. So that was a nice improvement. Think I'll sign up for a 10k and see how that goes.

Not so bad. Broke run up into two parts by going past a landlord's mid-day party out on the sidewalk in front of a new agency on Ashland Avenue. Talked with some long-time friends for 15-20 minutes, then continued my run. Breathing loosened up after a while. Just got to learn to take it easy....and endure.

5k trial run. Completely knocked me out. Gasping for air for the last mile. Didn't really time the run...didn't want to know. But something has suddenly started to affect my breathing, endurance and heart rate. So that I cannot even shuffle along for more than 30 minutes without developing extreme distress.
