Oak Park 5k. Nursing sore right foot that I twisted a week ago. But it held up well during race. More than 8 minutes slower than last year on same course...which I attribute to the foot. :-) Intermittent rain during the race; not a factor.

City running 24:00 [3] 1.2 mi (20:00 / mi) +5m 19:45 / mi
shoes: New Balance 610AR

Right foot still sore and swollen from the bad step I took a week ago. Ran over to the Mariano's on Broadway, and came back lugging cucumbers, tomatoes, green peppers and feta....Greek Salad!

Trying the ebuckley method of recovery: short rest for incapacitating injury, then back training again. Have a 5k out in Oak Park tomorrow, and wanted to see if I could run without pain. So far, so good. Now to see if swelling gets any worse; barely able to get shoe laced as it is!

Two black women in a run-off for Chicago's Mayor today. I'm voting for the politician rather than the lawyer because of her support for a tax on soft drinks. Maybe she'd also raise the gas tax?

Foot still sore. Seems to be helped by a tightly-laced running shoe. Wear one to bed?

Monday Apr 1 #

Hike w pack 40:01 [1] 2.1 mi (19:03 / mi) +5m 18:55 / mi
shoes: NewBalance 571BK

Rolled my ankle on Saturday; some kind of stupid New Balance running shoes that are more like slippers. No support. Very sore. Just a bit of walking today to get a haircut and a cup of coffee.
