Mid day run, bright sun, debris all over from Gay Parade yesterday. Which was mercifully cut in half by an Act of God....or Thor. Nevertheless I saw sights I never want to see again, including The Ass Dance.

Note

Flat on my back for two days...food poisoning after golf on Thursday? Completely unable to leave my bed. Fortunately Sari left some kale in my refrigerator before she left for Sweden last weekend. Feeling much better today after having some; fever has subsided. Could almost feel all that kale iron surging into my bloodstream immediately!

Sunset Valley GC, Highland Park. A beautiful day for golf. Early train again, from L train, then bus, and a walk to the Pro Shop. Teed off at 6:55am on a fresh, dewy GC. Immediately shanked the ball into a pond on the first hole...which kinda set up the whole day...despite perfect conditions.

Nevertheless I had a fun day. Felt strong, and moved right along. 4:10 round. Then walk into town for lunch...which tasted soooo good. Home by 2:30pm.

Deer Creek GC, University Park. Took early (5:15am) train out of Millennium Park depot all the way down to far south suburbs. Then a bus, dropping me off right in front of the GC.

A beautiful warm morning; very sunny, gentle breeze. Perfect conditions! Everyone else thought so too...I played as a single walker, in the middle of a bunch of fat foursomes in carts...not a single other walker I could play with! So we kept moving, and completed the 18-hole round in 3-1/2 hours.

Then bus and train back to Flossmoor Station, one of the old Illinois Central stations made over into a brewpub, for broiled tilapia lunch. Picked up a couple of barrel-aged stouts in 22-oz 'bombers' to bring home. Good day!
