Down to the Saturday morning Farmers' Market. Fall is here! No more peaches or corn. Tomatoes and peppers still look ok. And an abundance of apples and grapes...which haven't the appeal of peaches and melons.

Last half mile in a thunderstorm from the west. Maybe that's why I went under 40 minutes for only the second time.

River Pointe CC, Hobart, IN. Second time here. Played easy tees. But still some penalties and fluffed shots. Beautiful day: mild breeze, sunny, in 70's. Rode in cart with Larry driving. So a lots of the times I was walking down the fairway with a handful of wedges and a putter, while Larry searched the roughs and out-of-bounds for his ball. Another good day of golf...for us both!

White Deer Run GC, Vernon Hills. Long commute...but worth it. Beautiful country 'links' course that works its way through a very up-scale Lake Co. community. Cool, windy, sunny. No PR for the course...just too wet from a weekend's rains. But very fun nevertheless.

Note: Very gratifying to be able to get off the bus at 9am...and not sit again until back on the bus at 3:55...more than six hours carrying those clubs, swinging, walking, putting. Had a power bar and an apple. Seemed to be adequate until I returned home at 6pm. Six months ago, I couldn't even complete nine holes without total exhaustion.

One of the guys in the foursome following me came up and asked how old I was. They'd been watching me walking the course from the comfort of their GPS-equipped golf carts...and wondered how I did it. Well the answer is...TRAINING! Start in March, and work up to it all season.
