Monday Nov 29

Trail Run - Tempo (Crandalls) 27:05 [3]4.75 km (5:42 / km)
ahr:122 max:134
regular route, fell on hill, mashed L toes pretty good - throbbing still after 2 hours. Not sufficiently motivated to do two circuits - which was the original plan

Tuesday Nov 23

Orienteering - Event (Fenton) 52:34 [3]10 km (5:15 / km) +150m 4:53 / km
ahr:119 max:138 rhr:44
Random fartlek on Horsebarn Hill. A few trails, but mostly off trail. Plenty of hill running. Need to map this one of these days.
Road Run (warmup/cooldown) 20:53 [2]
to/from horsebarn hill

Sunday Nov 21

Trail Run - Tempo (Shenipsit Forest) 1:03:32 [3]12.5 km (5:05 / km) +150m 4:48 / km
ahr:125 max:143 rhr:42 slept:7.0
moderate pace run to SSF, follow 1/2 marathon course for while, then return on same route.
40's, misty, slippery footing.

Saturday Nov 20

Trail Run - Tempo (Sampler / Moonlight) 58:07 [4]11.5 km (5:03 / km) +200m 4:39 / km
ahr:112 max:124 rhr:42
good run @ forest w/ deb
hard to get hr past 120, even on hills, but running hard enough to be 'barely conversational'. about 5-6 min faster than debs regular pace for route

Friday Nov 19

Road / Trail Mix (Shelter Falls) 47:03 [3]8.5 km (5:32 / km) +100m 5:14 / km
ahr:119 max:133 rhr:46
Birch Road, then ran a while on trails at Shelter Falls, not 100% sure of distance - estimated.

Legs sore, hard to get HR up to 120 while on roads, felt faster, less achy on trails (and a bit off trail) and the HR ran about 8-10 beats higher off the road.

Not a great day, but I got out there at least. Hopefully run at the forest tomorrow..

Tuesday Nov 16

Road Run (Birch / Bone Mill) 36:04 [3]7.64 km (4:43 / km)
ahr:130 rhr:47
Road Loop at Lunch - felt hard, pushed hard on dirt road to monitor HR.

Sunday Nov 14

Orienteering - Event (WCOC - Paugussett Red) 1:26:48 [4]6.46 km (13:26 / km) +225m 11:27 / km
ahr:116 max:167 spiked:3/12c slept:5.5
Gari Williams Memorial.
Nice day, very sluggish

Red - Splits

Saturday Nov 13

Trail Run - Tempo 41:00 [2]6.1 km (6:43 / km)
ahr:104 max:118 rhr:41 slept:8.0
first snow - 3 inches or so
easy run w/ kevin (50k tomorrow). Slippery running, knees a bit sore after

Wednesday Nov 10

Road Run (Campus - Outbound) 7:44 [3]1.7 km (4:33 / km)
ahr:123
BSP to Horsebarn Hill N via Floriculture
Orienteering - Event (Fenton Track - Fartlek) 47:21 [3]7 km (6:46 / km) +200m 5:55 / km
ahr:127
Random wanderings in the UConn forest - distance is a total guess
Road Run (Campus - Inbound) 7:01 [3]1.5 km (4:41 / km)
ahr:130 max:145
Horsebarn Hill N back to BSP - pushed hard on North Eagleville

Monday Nov 8

Road Run (Birch / Bonemill Loop) 36:54 [3]7.8 km (4:44 / km) +170m 4:16 / km
ahr:124 max:134 rhr:48 slept:5.0
short road run - work - hunting lodge, birch, bonemill, hillyndale, hunting lodge.

Felt very hard, yet barely broke 130 most of the time. Legs a little sluggish, but mostly just hard to push the cardio.

Saturday Nov 6

Trail Run - Tempo (Shenipsit Trail NB) 39:34 [2]8.5 km (4:39 / km) +175m 4:13 / km
ahr:123 max:162 rhr:47 slept:8.0
Short run up into forest aways, turning around at 20 minutes. Negative splits by about half a minute. Not much energy, felt difficult to focus on footing, which was tough with most of the oak leaves now down after the wind of the past few days.

Thursday Nov 4

Road / Trail Mix (campus) 55:23 [3]
ahr:119 max:152 rhr:47 slept:5.5
a mix of roads and fartlek in some of the wooded parcels around campus

Tuesday Nov 2

Road Run (Hare & Back) 20:20 [4]4.7 km (4:20 / km)
ahr:138 max:178 rhr:49 slept:7.0
Tight calves (leftovers from A meet). No school so took the day off. Get a short early AM run in (about 6:30am, 30F overcast) before kids wake up.

Hard to get HR above 145, 178 was a brief spike about 4 minutes in. I usually seem to get a brief spike in HR between 3 & 5 minutes, then usually don't see it unless really pushing. Get it with or without warmup jog.
