Sunday Nov 26

Event: NEOC Mt Tom

Trail Run - Long / Easy (Crandalls) 22:04 [3]4.55 km (4:51 / km)
weight:167lbs shoes: Adidas Response Trail XI
another early morning run, this time sticking to the trails below the hill. Lots of little rollers but no big climbs. Again, legs felt fine, but breathing exceptionally hard...

Saturday Nov 25

Event: WCOC Ansonia Nature Center meet

Trail Run - Long / Easy (Crandalls) 31:16 [3]5.85 km (5:21 / km)
weight:168lbs shoes: Adidas Response Trail XI
Brisk run at Crandalls on the way in to work. The usual circuit, except i ran it CW from the Crandalls II lot, then when I got down to the bottom of the hill I ran a convoluted series of trails across the base, finishing back at the parking lot.

Legs felt fine, great even... However the respiratory/circulatory aspect of things really sucks these days. I really need to get out and run/ride at least 4 days a week to feel good...
Fieldwork (Crandalls) 2:15:00 [1]
shoes: Adidas Response Trail XI
couple hours after work... nice open woods and a relatively decent basemap - this map is, so far, progressing more quickly than previous maps. But the hillside and top of the hill are yet to come. I suspect that the contours on top are going to need a lot of massaging to make sense.

Friday Nov 24

Fieldwork (Crandalls) 3:00:00 [1]
shoes: Kumasi GTX
left work early pm, spent some quality time in the woods before heading home when it got dark...

Thursday Nov 23

Manchester Road Race

Wednesday Nov 22

Note
well well, the weather forecasters have changed their mind about tomorrow - from sunny and cool to 100% chance of pouring rain. I guess that means I'll be able to sneak out of work after all and join the masses in Manchester...

I'm guessing we won't be seeing the G in Manchester, though I heard he was considering it. And it sounds like Phil's out as well. I presume most of the Walker clan will be in attendance though...
C • See you there! 2

Sunday Nov 19

Fieldwork (crandalls) 2:15:00 [1]
shoes: Kumasi GTX
a few hours in the am, finished flat area east of marsh & worked on detail in the thicket...

Saturday Nov 18

Road Run (chipmunk chase) 25:00 [2]4 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Kumasi GTX
kids fun run, paved 1km path. Jogged 4 loops - in chinos &light hikers.
Fieldwork (Crandalls) 3:30:00 [1]
shoes: Kumasi GTX
finished up the first block (just under 0.2km total). Took a break, put another piece of mylar on the board and started another section further up along the S side of the map along I-84 toward the large marsh. Mostly getting the map and a few stonewalls situated accurately, then I'll go back and fill in the areas between. A little bland in the strip nearest the highway, should go really quickly, then into the laurel thicket. There's really just the one major laurel thicket on the map, but it has a number of light green areas in amongst the fight...

Friday Nov 17

Fieldwork (crandalls) 2:45:00 [1]
commenced real fieldwork this am, nice day to be out, bit overdressed though.

aerials overlaid my field notes perfectly when I scanned them, so that helped boost the confidence. (I usually suffer a few days of uncertainty when starting a new project until I get into a groove). The area I started in has been changed since the basemap aerials were flown, so the basemap was a bit vague in some areas - but the newer aerials I overlaid matched my handrawn notes - cool....

I noticed that the town is redoing the front entrance to the park, including moving the drive and reconfiguring the lower parking area, so I'm going to leave that until last...
C • When can I schedule a meet? 2
Bike - Road (lake & back) 25:00 [2]8 km (3:08 / km)
shoes: Trail-a-bike
pm ride to lake w/ Hayden

Sunday Nov 12

Road Run (hare & back) 22:38 [3]5 km (4:32 / km)

quick am run. pushed outbound 1500 hard - 5:44, easy on return - 7:25

Saturday Nov 11

Trail Run - Long / Easy (Sampler) 35:34 [3]6.1 km (5:50 / km)
rhr:46 slept:8.0 shoes: Adidas Response Trail XI
Easy run w/ Kevin. Pushed last bit over hill. Legs felt ok, chest rather tight though. Should probably at least start running dirt road at night to maintain some kind of shape

Friday Nov 10

Hiking (Vernon Rail Trail) 1:00:00 [1]6.4 km (9:22 / km)
shoes: Kumasi GTX
family walk, nice day - Jackson & I jogged a couple quarter mile sections.

Haven't had time for running or riding lately and body is feeling it. Will try to get out tomorrow AM at the forest.

Registered for Manchester way back, but now that I have to work the holiday & weekend, not sure if I'll get to start - I'll hope for crummy weather so can sneak away from the greenhouse for a few hours

Friday Nov 3

Note
30/63
Fieldwork (Crandalls) 3:30:00 [1]
began fieldwork @ Crandalls. Didn't actually draw much, checked a bunch of areas getting a feel for the basemap. Nice day...

Nice surprise at town hall though, discovered another 1/2 km of newer open space and a small parcel of state forest adjoining it that, until recently, DEP apparently didn't even know about. Apparently deeded to state, but state property management apparently didn't tell DEP.. Zoning guy said parcel wasn't good for much as it was all 'ledgy' - sounds good for O, eh?
