Fieldwork (Crandalls) 1:30:00 [1]
rhr:46 slept:8.0
Continued mapping top of the hill including west side of old dam site. Rode the Mtn Bike in from Old Post rather than climbing the hill - nice bit of terrain in there.

AOWN - when I first got into the woods, I rustled up a group of 3 deer, ran into them 3 more times while mapping, but the group kept getting larger by one each time. Quite odd...
C • Map will be done in no time 2
Orienteering - Training (Parker / Nye) 28:00 [3]4 km (7:00 / km)
shoes: Adidas Response Trail XI
Ran across the road and did a mapless (but w/ compass) scouting of the Nye parcel and town land down toward Parker. This will make a fine 2nd stage addition to the Crandalls map - its all one big hill, but has some nice rock features, interesting knolls etc down low and I came across one Pawtuckaway worthy boulder - probably 5m or so.... Then back up the hill and over to Crandalls to retrieve my bike
Bike - MTN (Crandalls via Mtn Spring) 35:00 [3]10 km (3:30 / km)
Took the Mtn Bike to get over to Crandalls to map. Rode into woods a way off Old Post, locked it to a tree and went to work...
Bike - MTN (Crandalls > Home via Bald) 27:00 [3]8 km (3:22 / km)
Down Old Post, across Tolland Green, over Bald Hill and home... Less than a half hour on the bike and my butt hurts...

Tuesday Jan 2

Run w/ Jackson (Water Co Trail) 46:47 [1]4 km (11:42 / km)
shoes: Adidas Response Trail XI
another evening run - this time with Jackson (8) and Anna (10). Nearly a full moon, clear and crisp. Jogged on the road, but running quickly degenerated to a combination jog / fast walk due to various ailments from Anna. Still a nice night to be out after dark...

Sunday Dec 31

Trail Run - Long / Easy (Hare & back) 34:14 [2]5 km (6:51 / km)
shoes: Kumasi GTX
7:30pm - after dinner run with Jackson (8). Crisp, clear night, good moonlit dirt road, ~28F. Took the headlamps, but only turned them on when cars approached for visibility. Nice easy pace

Saturday Dec 30

Trail Run - Long / Easy (Sampler (abbreviated)) 30:14 [3]5.25 km (5:46 / km)
No one at the forest this AM so ran the sampler before heading into work. About halfway through, decided to follow a new bike trail - nice winding trail dropped me out on Sodom opposite the Shenipsit Trail - so I took that which cut probably 800m or so off the distance... A few walking breaks on the hills... not into it this AM, chest tight.
