| Setting out controls for Sundays Five Ponds event which I can't attend as I have to work. But Peter injured his ankle a couple weeks ago and asked for some assistance and I was off today anyhow so off to Litchfield I went.
Just wore street clothes as I didn't intend to run at all but did wind up jogging a bit from time to time. Trails have a bit of icy glaze on them, but the woods were fine. Rustled up a few white tails, but otherwise the woods were quiet. Started snowing around 2pm, I finished up at 3 and hit the road. Secondarys were slippery so I opted to take Rt 8 to I84 which turned out to be a bad idea as it took me over 3.5 hours to get home. Highways weren't so bad, but the idiots were out in force as there were spun out cars all over the place. Note: Pace is actually slower as the time is 'moving time' from the GPS - and I spent a bit of time standing still - tying flags up and just ensuring that all the visible features matched up correctly and that I was indeed putting the flags in the correct locations. Never hurts to double check these things. I was probably in the woods for 3.5 hours or so. | ||

| Orienteering - Event race (Blue Hills Traverse) 2:17:18 [4]*** 13.8 km (9:57 / km) | ||

| Traverse on a very cold day. A clean run - dry leaves on rocks were very slippery so in many (most) areas the running was pretty cautious, but didn't take any major headers. Saw various folks on and off but pretty much ran my own run the entire way, didn't make any serious errors but did manage to pick some creative routes on a few legs. Got into a bunch with Jeff Shapiro, Phil, Tim Parsons and a few others on the last few legs off the hill, but didn't make any attempts to try and get ahead and/or away. Content to let a small crowd finish just ahead of me. | ||
