Slept in past daybreak, no particular rush to get out the door, only to find no precip in southern New England (yet). Perhaps I'll go put my hours in at Gay City, see if I still remember how to carry a map. Maybe even pasi style.
7 AM

Run - Trail long (Gay City) 2:23:03 intensity: (4:51 @0) + (2:32 @1) + (39:32 @2) + (1:33:56 @3) + (2:12 @4) 11.91 mi (12:01 / mi) +329m 11:04 / mi

A long easy jaunt on trails to get some of my hours in. A couple of falls, but no damage. R heel bothering me a bit, adjusted shoes/socks a couple times and also switched shoes before O. But still got a blister - probably because the liner is worn completely out in heel of those shoes. Might be time to toss them. Watch lost GPS for the last 20 minutes or so (no time info on watch), yet the track seems to be fine... Hmmm. Maybe the GPS lost track, but the Glonass stayed operational? Last time it did this the track was a mess..

Orienteering race (Gay City Red) 59:15 intensity: (7 @0) + (16 @1) + (2:10 @2) + (11:41 @3) + (19:00 @4) + (26:01 @5) *** 4.2 mi (14:06 / mi) +167m 12:34 / mi

Red course, Ikonen style aka sans compass. Actually felt really good running in forest since it's been a long time since I've done so. The base fitness must be paying off. Pretty much ran the entire way with exception of a couple steeper hillsides. Everything spot on except #13 - I had a visual impression of a wall fragment, was thinking it was wall fragment to north, so stayed right and wound up losing maybe a minute coming N along stream. And there was the flag, hanging on the wall I had visualized as being the wrong one.
11 AM

Note

And, because I really should have put in 5 hours of running today to make my weekly goal, I considered heading back out for another 90 minutes of running. But since I just had one of my cleanest O runs in years, albeit on home turf, I elected not to sully the moment with anything more and headed home. A pair of 3.5 hours days ain't bad..

Run - Dirt long (Andover & back) 3:25:39 intensity: (54 @0) + (1:06 @1) + (13:23 @2) + (3:03:52 @3) + (6:24 @4) 21.1 mi (9:45 / mi) +401m 9:12 / mi

Church St to Andover and back. Opted not to do the short loops & car aid today. Two small bottle plus CC just in case I needed to hit convenience store at turnaround. Saw Jim H and his amigos on the way back. Nice even pace with a minor increase at the end, probably due to gentle downhill. Kept the HR mostly in the right zone though, even if a tad higher than my target.

Also, as I was coming back around Steeles Crossing I looked into the woods and could have sworn I saw an O flag on a knoll. A quick off trail jaunt showed that it was indeed a regulation sized O flag, except it was constructed of heavy cotton canvas... Had a 'Do Not Disturb' note written on it and appeared to be part of a boy scout activity.
12 PM

Note

Only 4 runs on the log this week, but three of them are over 2.5 hours with a total mileage of just over 70 at the moment. Not bad for someone like me. Off to Maine tomorrow, which is why I got a long one in today. And missed tempo last night in Manchester as Strider board meeting conflicted. Perhaps another long jaunt on Sunday. We will see...
