Swimming 1:00:00 [3]

Swim lesson today! I've been training according to schedule, but I wanted to write about the lesson today before I forget the things I need to work on.

First, this was a really helpful session; I would like to keep having lessons with Balasz once every 2-3 weeks.

Balasz's general assessment is that I have decent form when going at a relaxed pace, which was a relief. At least I can do something right. "In order to get faster," he says, "you will work on some technique, but mainly you will have to train at a harder pace and suffer." Darn, I knew there was a catch to this whole getting better thing.

We worked on maintaining body position (my legs sink when I get tired), and a lot of catch up drills to correct my fishtailing as well as to focus on the catch of my armstroke. Balasz also noticed that I breathe with better form on one side than the other (I sink a lot when trying to breathe on the weak side), which I wasn't aware of before today. In general, I over-rotate when breathing and sink a lot with every breath. I'll work on maintaining good position in the water on breath strokes.
