shoes: Salomon Speedcross CS

Quick little loop swapping out number 43 and turning on maybe 11 controls for Ben's long courses. Stepping over a couple smallish fallen trees, I placed my foot badly and scraped the bony front of my shin and banged something against my shin about 5cm medial of the bony front, about 15cm below my kneecap where the flat front of the shin touches muscle.

It was painful on Saturday and Sunday, although I was able to do a respectable effort on the Brown (-69) course. Monday morning it was kinda okay, but it hurt at my desk unless I elevated it onto the waste basket.

Tuesday it was a bit more painful, so I bought some compression sleeves. They really helped. I took them off on Tuesday night, and when I put them back on Wednesday, they didn't seem as effective. I've got a bit of redness around the wounds.

I took it easy Wednesday afternoon. I notice it feels better when I walk around (blood flow?).

Two people have asked me why I haven't been to the doctor yet (although Dave Reeder, an EMT, and Susan Bantz, and MD, looked at it at the Pig). Well, it doesn't seem that bad yet. I'll have to check my log for whether I saw a doctor when I got my hemotoma several years ago. That was much, much worse than this.

From my experience last time, I remembered to *not* take aspirin or NSAIDs with an injury like this, because it might increase the amount of swelling.
