Rollerblading 2:05:00 [3] 32.49 km (3:51 / km)
20 mile bike ride with co-workers that I did on Rollerblades. The storm has kept me busy enough that I didn't have time to work on my bike(s), or to put the racks on my car, so this morning I just threw the rollerblades in the car. I arrived after everyone had left (which was intentional because of a conflict), and ended up finishing in front of at least one person, and probably 2. Most people (all on bikes) were *way* faster than me. (Some fairly non-elite runners can run this distance faster than I can rollerblade it.)

I had a tailwind on the last 8 miles of the outbound leg, and I was going 25-26 km/hr for about 4 miles of it. The rest was 17-22 km/hr. The return leg had major headwind, and I struggled about 3 miles or so at 12-13 km/hr, but had a long stretch of 15-17.

It was a little cool when I started in shorts and a T-shirt, but when I got going it was one of the nicest days ever. So nice out.

This was just about as much as i could do. I had a bad afternoon---felt terrible. Normally exercising reduces my blood pressure, but something today (possibly something I ate?) just caused it to run high all afternoon. It's finally dropped off, but higher than I like. (I'm on BP medication, so I'll probably see the doctor next week to try to understand what is going on.) I think this is the most uncomfortable I've ever felt due to blood pressure. Scary stuff. (Lunch was Vietnamese Garlic Chicken that didn't seem particularly salty. I ate about half the small serving of rice-chicken soup, which was pretty salty. The shrimp spring rolls are to die for---I've been tempted to order 4 of them as my entree. I'd be surprised if the problem were the food.)
Note
Programmed controls and set up an event in OE for Saturday. Early---615-645am.
Note
I rode a recumbent bike for the first time ever today! w00t!

It was owned by a guy I saw on the trail, but never got close enough to talk to. (He turned off once to stop at a store, I guess.) He rode through the parking lot about 10 minutes after I finished, so I asked if I could give it a try.

It was easier than I expected, and yet still twitchy enough to be maneuverable. Very fun to ride.

I think it was an E-cycle, I think.

Running 24:00 [3] 3.24 km (7:24 / km) +55m 6:50 / km
shoes: Brooks
One hill route cut short by turning around at the cemetery.

Felt awesome. I just can't explain it. Did walk on the uphill. Sped up the last 600m on the flat.

Monday Sep 29

Note
Met MIke to explain SportIdent and program controls for an event he's doing (did) Wednesday.

Strength 1:00:00 [1]
5 hours of raking and bagging leaves. Brutal work, but I listened to NPR. I'm torn betweeen radio and iPod. This was radio. Made the time go by fast.

Saturday Sep 27

Strength 35:00 [1]
Raking and bagging leaves, still, from the storm. 3+ hours. Raked to exhaustion.
