I'll edit later for time. Score course at Cedars of Lebanon State Park in Tennessee. 87 minutes nominally. HR from my watch optical sensor. Definitely much higher than shown.

Orienteering race (Maze Relay) 2:58 intensity: (10 @0) + (1:49 @1) + (59 @2) 0.28 km (10:40 / km) +99m 3:50 / km

Leg 1 of a three-leg Maze relay. Very intense navigation. I had pre-read the map up to about control 7 of 13, and when I got to 7, I had to do everything on autopilot. Several 5-10 second stops while I found the next control on the map. I was first finisher of 5 or 6 teams. It was a mass start, and I was the sixth puncher (no SI-Air) up to about control 6, and then I was mostly alone. I think I took a different route plus the leaders had broken away. We discussed whether you needed a compass beforehand, and we all agreed no. But having done it, I'm thinking it's maybe a good idea. I didn't know which way was up after control 9 or 10 or so. I was worried I mispunched because it was just all wits, but the download was good. Whew! Big relief.
