Saturday Sep 30

Paddling 1:20:12 [2] 7.0 mi (11:27 / mi)
paddled out to the arboretum island and about 5min further, then turned around and met eric for a 30min a bit faster paddle at the end, good outing...
Trail Run 50:11 [3] 5.4 mi (9:16 / mi) +140m 5:21 / km
shoes: Montrail Lenona Divide #2
bridal trail loop with yumay with just a hair extra..

Thursday Sep 28

Roadbiking (commute) 26:00 [3] 6.0 mi (4:20 / mi) +100m 2:34 / km
to 40th and from montlake to work...
Roadbiking (commute) 1:06:39 [4] 35.3 km (1:53 / km) +20m 1:53 / km
started off rather slow since my seat was too high, after adjustment i rode faster and after the halfwaypoint i averaged well over 22mph for the latter half... felt super with the new trek!

Wednesday Sep 27

Trail Run 1:01:00 [2] 6.2 mi (9:50 / mi) +200m 5:33 / km
shoes: Brooks Cascadia #3
run with AV at cougar as everyone else bailed.. got back just when it got dark... from now on we ll probably just do the night runs again...

Tuesday Sep 26

Run 30:00 [3] 3.8 mi (7:53 / mi) +10m 4:52 / km
shoes: Asics Trail Gel 1090
very brisk run to and from the picnic area from UW and to montlake bridge.. missed the bus anyways...

Sunday Sep 24

Mountainbike 5:00:00 [2] 30.0 mi (10:00 / mi) +900m 5:41 / km
MTB to last trek...almost all of it single track, what a course.. lots of different single track as well, easy, gnarly, navigational choices, bikewhacks... incredible
Trail Run 5:05:00 [3] 14.0 mi (21:46 / mi) +1400m 10:20 / km
shoes: Montrail Diez Vista #2
2nd trek, gained about 50minutes on DART but nowhere near what we needed to catch them, they were almost 2h ahead.. additionally Eric forgot his climbing equipment and we had to run back 30 minutes to get it... bummer... rest of the trek was very fast, good, and eric navigated perfectly as well...
Paddling 9:00 [1] 0.6 mi (14:59 / mi)
solo rubber ducky paddling down to the finish, very cool! was about a type2 rapid...

Saturday Sep 23

Note
Wicked Sunsweet 24h,
good race, usual performance with strong trekking, mediocre biking and strong-ish paddling... eric's navigation was spot on for most of the 24h, really impressive and his TA times were probably worse than any of last year's races.. part of this is my fault as my TA's were horrible too, unorganized, slow, not too helpful for him either... overall lost probably 2.5h to the best case scenario but that is hard to achieve in such a long and hard race... the race itself was the best 24h adventure race i have ever done, hands down, due to so many reasons. Ruaraidh and Wanda were good and strong new teammates, though we could improve by simply racing together again, and hopefully will.
Mountainbike 27:04 [3] 4.0 mi (6:45 / mi) +200m 3:38 / km
MTB to the first paddle
Paddling 2:40:00 [3] 15.0 mi (10:40 / mi)
paddle on the reservoir.. due to the fact that it had some dog legs it was great to see all the top teams (nike beaver creek, DART, nuun/clif, NW Nike ACG) race hard out to the cps and navigate around each other..
Mountainbike 5:05:00 [4] 35.0 mi (8:43 / mi) +1500m 4:47 / km
MTB to the first trek, included a huge spill down a steep ravine with my bike and banging up my knee and worse my private part as well, took me about 5 minutes of fetal positioning and humming to recover
Trail Run 2:30:00 [2] 7.0 mi (21:25 / mi) +700m 10:10 / km
shoes: Cascadia #4 Orange
1st trek, made up about 30 minutes to dart due to erics perfect navigation and probably some speed too, though its always hard to say as they claim every second they lose to nav... would probably have to do a team 50k once to prove that one

Sunday Sep 17

Trail Run 1:14:53 [2] 7.0 mi (10:42 / mi) +500m 5:26 / km
shoes: Cascadia #4 Orange
easy run at cougar in the early AM before heading out to paddle, it is taking me way longer than i though to recover from CCC100, but i just talked to brian morrison and he is essentially still not recovered from western states, 3 months later, so I guess i just have to be patient...
Paddling 1:33:21 [2] 7.5 mi (12:26 / mi)
out and about at lake washington and lake union with ruri paddling... nice outing.. back hurt toward the end..

Saturday Sep 16

Orienteering 32:00 [2] 2.8 mi (11:25 / mi) +50m 6:44 / km
shoes: Cascadia #4 Orange
last of the streetscramble course vetting, then dropped off the maps with terry at the orienteering event and already had my warmup...
Orienteering 28:02 [4]**** 2.8 mi (10:00 / mi) +100m 5:36 / km
spiked:15/24c shoes: Cascadia #4 Orange
woodland park score-O without trails or vegetation zones.. the nav was not too hard but i messed up and ran by one of the 24 controls and then had to go back after i was almost done... probably lost about 4-5 min overall but dont think i could have beater matej who did it in 21m40.. he ll soon beat eric in some of the events i bet

Friday Sep 15

Orienteering 1:00:00 [1] 5.0 mi (11:59 / mi) +80m 7:06 / km
shoes: Brooks Roadrunners
checked most of the street scramble maps for terry and eric with yumay....took it pretty easy..

Wednesday Sep 13

Mountainbike 1:34:56 [3] 14.0 mi (6:47 / mi) +450m 3:50 / km
night time bike ride gate to gate tiger up fireroad to preston, over to nwtimber and back down... rode with yumay and julie again, seems like this is the new thing... yumay has now surpassed me in terms of technical skills on most of the downhills, kind of scary.. it became clear when i ended up NOT getting off the bike and took the 4 larger drops the preston singletrack has because yumay took them and so did julie and since i did not want to be a wussy i tried, though i fell on the last one and scratched my lower leg pretty good.... i am just horrible at the singletrack for how often i ride... or maybe ist just the company i am in is significantly better than the average rider out there... anyhow, it got real dark right before we got to NWtimber and with our tiny little headlights (my halogen is in the shop) we took much longer for the last few miles of singletrack... some two crazies rode it entirely in th e dark without lights....

Monday Sep 11

Trail Run 58:55 [3] 5.5 mi (10:42 / mi) +330m 5:37 / km
shoes: Cascadia #4 Orange
awesome trail run in the evening.. felt like skipping it after a long hard day at work, decided to go anyways but soon realized a long run was not going to be smart due to my hamstrings still being shot from the weekend training.. so i took it easy on the hills and booked the downs... got a good rythm going and felt totally revived at the end...

Sunday Sep 10

Mountainbike 5:50:05 [2]* 96.8 km (3:37 / km) +667m 3:30 / km
The son of the last Dirt Trail Epic, my version though... rode with yumay from our house up to the tolt pipeline trail, all the way past the watershed and down to the snoqualmie valley... then flat to carnation, up tolt, and about 1h play (singletracks) at tolt until robin called... we met him at the bottom and rode on the snoq valley trail to fall city, across to I-90, along the bike paths to high point way, skipped grand ridge (yumay was already suffering enough with saddle soreness and tiredness) and across to issaquah and via east lake sammamish home... nice outing, about 7h with breaks... naved on usgs and trailmaps (beast map, etc)...

Friday Sep 8

Trail Run 3:27:00 [2] 18.0 mi (11:30 / mi) +450m 6:38 / km
shoes: Montrail Lenona Divide #2
the big loop via powerline, farrel, watershed, pipeline and sammamish river trail.... very tired at the end, hips sore, yumay towed me a bit the last 2 iles because she could and it was fun seeing how happy she was to do so...

Wednesday Sep 6

Mountainbike (commute) 1:15:42 [3] 23.0 mi (3:17 / mi) +20m 2:02 / km
ride to work first with ruri (drafting off him) at a very good clip, then took it a bit easier in view of tonights ride at tiger... legs are reasonably tired now...
C • well.. 3
Mountainbike 1:27:44 [2] 14.0 mi (6:16 / mi) +600m 3:26 / km
with yumay and julie, but no mercy even though i was riding with the "girls", not the fastest time up to preston, but down with no breaks virtually...yumay was leading the whole way, impressive her progress.. then on NW timber i fell, could not unclip and hit my left hip on a branch, really sore and a bit swollen now.. hope it will just be a bruise...

Tuesday Sep 5

Trail Run 1:04:55 [3] 6.8 mi (9:32 / mi) +5m 5:55 / km
shoes: Cascadia #4 Orange
was intended to be a Z4 run but my legs were so tired and heavy still i could never get my HR above 153, which is exessively low, and i could not run as fast as intended, but the gorgeous weather and good music made it for a nice run...

Monday Sep 4

Paddling (amaruk) 1:32:00 [2] 8.0 mi (11:30 / mi)
paddle with robin and AV, AV and I were in a double and went with robin for a while, but he circumnavigated mercer island and we did not have that much time...
Roadbiking 1:05:00 [2] 14.0 mi (4:38 / mi) +100m 2:49 / km
rode out to bothell with yumay, then up the hill and back, to test out AV s roadbike... sweet, she can ride it and so can i, its a bit small for me and a bit large for her... i brought the pink tank so i was considerably slower...

Sunday Sep 3

Mountainbike 4:12:22 [2] 24.3 mi (10:22 / mi) +1350m 5:30 / km
tough ride at white river... singletrack from buck creek to corral pass road, up the fireroad to corral pass, and via knoble knob and ranger creek down the palistades... yumay went over the handlebar 3 times, me once, last fall messed up her bottom bracket and scraped her knee badly.. the woman s tougher than me that s for sure, i would have walked it down... it was great training though for wicked..

Saturday Sep 2

Trail Run 1:15:00 [2] 8.0 mi (9:23 / mi) +100m 5:36 / km
shoes: Montrail Diez Vista #2
nice early moring run to bridle trails and back with yumay, she was running me down with my tired legs still not back to normal, so i let her run some extra while i picked blackberries for her... role reversal perfecto..
Mountainbike 1:39:00 [2] 14.0 mi (7:04 / mi) +500m 3:57 / km
reverse route at tiger, NWtimber, up preston, down fireroad.. with yumay and aaronV, from sunset till well into the evening... mostly in the dark, really good ride, am glad i went, almost wanted to whimp out since i just had no desire to go...

Friday Sep 1

Trail Run 42:35 [2] 4.1 mi (10:22 / mi) +60m 6:10 / km
shoes: Brooks Cascadia #2
tired on the uphills, everything good, knee hurt all day except during the run.. weird...
