Trail Run 1:12:00 [1] 7.0 mi (10:17 / mi) +656ft 9:27 / mi
shoes: Asics Trail Gel 1090

geez louise... that was a non-planned taper run... i was doing volunteer work pouring out drinks at aid station mile 31.7 at the 50M trail championship and some woman came in totally disoriented and dehydrated and we still could not make her stop (not allowed unless she wants to) so i jogged behind her all the way up to suntop to make sure she was allright... she finally got back to normal (after five minutes she remembered her own name) and cruised to a 3rd place finish... apparently not her first time passing out while being in the lead...

shoes: Asics Trail Gel 1090

ran at buck creek towards squokum flats after setting up my camp..it was late (almost 9pm) and still too hot to go fast... a nice taper run...

Trail Run 2:51:48 [2] 15.6 mi (11:01 / mi) +1312ft 10:12 / mi
shoes: Asics Trail Gel 1090

wanted to run longer to prepare for the rogaining NOC but felt like more would not have been beneficial... this will be a long 24h...

Note

Trioba #2, Snoqualmie Pass, Washington
Eric Bone, Liz Stahl, Aaron Rinn and I competed in the trioba and did well, 3rd of about 40-ish teams... but due to a hugely missplaced checkpoint that one team found we did not end up 2nd in the 4coed as usual (DART won, this time 36m ahead of us....) i was sick all week and still am not my usual self... eric and aaron were feeling great and doing a lot of towing....

Trail Run 45:00 [3] 4.0 mi (11:15 / mi) +66ft 11:05 / mi
shoes: Asics Trail Gel 1090

first part of the race included a lot of coordinate finding and portaging the boats... eric s masterpiece was portaging the boats around to cp2, much harder work but we ended up passing montrail, rubber chicken and DART for 1st temporarily...

Paddling 15:00 [2]

only very little time was spent paddling...

Mountainbike 2:40:00 [3] 18.0 mi (8:53 / mi) +1640ft 8:11 / mi

missplaced cp6, about 30min, other than that lots of moving, though a lot of bikepushing and bikewhacking was required...

Trail Run 2:45:00 [3] 12.0 mi (13:45 / mi) +2953ft 11:09 / mi
shoes: Brooks Cascadia #1

the hardest part.. basically trailrunning with little navigation and we re a runners team... very fast on foot, got towed up the hills a lot...

Mountainbike 1:30:00 [3] 10.0 mi (9:00 / mi) +1640ft 7:47 / mi

hard.. uphill steep, then bikewhack, then grining up and down technically difficult.. then downhill on large boulders... i was wasted

Trail Run 40:00 [3] 3.0 mi (13:20 / mi) +66ft 13:04 / mi

the end.. mini orienteering section...

Wednesday Jul 20, 2005 #

Trail Run 1:24:00 [2] 7.0 mi (12:00 / mi) +1148ft 10:23 / mi
shoes: Brooks Cascadia #1

i dont knwo what level to log that at... my speed was super slow, but i m still jetlagged and tired from having been sick, so i had to walk about 50% of all the uphills... low speed, hard-ish workout

Sunday Jul 17, 2005 #

Trail Run 49:00 [3] 3.8 mi (12:54 / mi) +820ft 10:42 / mi
shoes: Montrail Leona Divide

another slow and painful run... a wee bit better than yesterday... dont want to overdo it...

Saturday Jul 16, 2005 #

shoes: Montrail Leona Divide

after 4 days of being sick it was my first test run... not good, not bad...

Sunday Jul 10, 2005 #

Roadbiking 5:15:00 [3] 90.0 km (3:30 / km) +4921ft 3:14 / km

killer hill at the end... from juizaigou to chuandusi... 1500m uphill with the heaviest panniers (took all the weight i could from yumay) and towed her some (not much, felt like crap most of the time)...
nice ride though, once all the tourist buses passed us we had the whole road to ourselves...

Saturday Jul 9, 2005 #

Hike 3:00:00 [1] 14.0 km (12:51 / km)

lots of downhill hiking at jiuzaigou

Thursday Jul 7, 2005 #

Roadbiking 3:15:00 [3] 44.0 km (4:26 / km) +2625ft 4:04 / km

Roadbiking 4:15:00 [2] 64.0 km (3:59 / km) +4429ft 3:36 / km

after having been sick for a day i decided to go on anyways and it was a good decision, i felt strong and towed yumay up the pass (about 1000m elev.) all the way to 14000 feet.. she felt the altitude and was very weak, but we made it even with the about 40lbs weigth on our bikes without walking, did one break at a roadconstruction place where some nice construction workers offered us green tea and cookies... lots of staring but really nice people...

Hike 2:00:00 [2] 9.0 km (13:20 / km) +1312ft 10:55 / km

hiked fairly fast up to huanlongsi (golden dragon pools) and took some quite amazing pictures... once we were up there it started pouring on us (again, nothing new, rained every day a bit to a lot)

Monday Jul 4, 2005 #

Hike 1:30:00 [1] 8.0 km (11:15 / km) +492ft 10:17 / km

hiked around the hotsprings area quite a bit, the place was huge and gorgeous.. the horseback trip was a blast except for the super rainy night with little sleep in the tent that was more like a sieve...

Sunday Jul 3, 2005 #

Roadbiking 3:45:00 [1] 63.0 km (3:34 / km) +1969ft 3:25 / km

lots of ups and downs towards wenchuan, then took the bus all the way to songpan, where we went horseback riding for 2 days...

Saturday Jul 2, 2005 #

Roadbiking (mountainbike china) 6:01:00 [2] 110.0 km (3:17 / km) +1969ft 3:12 / km

honeymoon with yumay...started in chengdu and biked to dujianyuan to the irrigation systems, hiked about 2.5h aound there and then biked on towards yingshuo.... after about 1h of that part we encountered a big rockfall that stopped traffic in both directions for hours.. we were able to go around it after about 1h and then biked on with 3 17y/o kids from chengdu.. it started pouring like i have seldom seen it before and we still made it to yingshuo, totally drenched....

Hike 1:30:00 [1] 8.0 km (11:15 / km) +656ft 10:00 / km

hike around the irrigation systems in dujiangyuan.. actual time was about 2.5h
