Mountainbike 3:00:00 [1] 64.0 km (2:49 / km) +328ft 2:47 / km

Worlds most dangerous road downhill... la paz cumbre down to coroico, straight 12000 feet descent, mostly on rutted out fire roads with drops of up to 3000 feet right next to the border of the fireroad.. it was my 2nd time since 2003 and i totally enjoyed doing it with yumay... we were able to hammer the downs but had to wait for about 2h for the slow people in the group, no problem, the weather was killer good....

monster run going up to quebrada carhuez, took the collectivo at 7am to llupa and ran straight uphill to about 12000 feet until i hit a plateau, incredible glacial power created a 18k long plateau to run in... lots of water and knee deep stream crossings... wanted to make it a 9h run crossing over a pass to another valley but encountered some quide with tourist that told me it was nearly impossible, knee deep snow and lots of postholing, not worth it.. so i ran up to the glacier and turned around, which was good as i was dead tired at the end... long week and altitude are really getting to me....

ran up towards pitec and turned around at 37 min, either very good uphill or slow downhill run, either way i was tired and worked by the end... elevation is now not a big deal anymore.. tomorrow we re thinking about going up to 5000 meters with the bikes.. we ll see how the weather holds too...

Hike 7:15:00 [3] 18.0 km (24:10 / km) +3937ft 18:08 / km
shoes: BrooksCascadiaT Nr1

Day 2, big day climbing from 3600 meters to 4760 meters (15600 feet), in some of the most heinous conditions of driving sleet and rain, carried yumays pack the last 20 minutes as she was starting to feel the altitude, which got my load to about 90-100 lbs at 15600 feet, that was just about level 5 of my capabilities... after that we tried to descend rapidly on slick rocks to loose as much altitude, we hiked about 9h day day, with few breaks, and once in camp still had to cook for 4 people (took almost 2h) as the rest were clinically dead... but totally worth it, some of the nicest views i have ever seen when the weather cleared up in the evening....

Hike 2:10:00 [2] 8.0 km (16:15 / km) +820ft 14:03 / km
shoes: BrooksCascadiaT Nr1

Day 1 of the St. Cruz Trek, Massive 45km trek through the highest andes mountains, the cordillera blanca. Trekked with Yumay, Will, and Adrian for 3 days, carrying around 50-60lbs pack, including a 2p tent, subzero sleeping bag, food for 4 days and 2 people, and lots of water. Started at Vaqueria after the most horrifying and amazing bus ride ever, where we ascended from 2200 meters to 4800 (16000 feet) straight up, pitted fire road with no safety, one slight error of the bus driver and we would have fallen into the valley.... anyhow after that we did about 3h of light trekking with a lunch break before the rain started pouring, so we called it a day way early...

Mountainbike 4:55:00 [3] 44.0 km (6:42 / km) +3773ft 5:56 / km

After a day of acclimatization in Huaraz (10200feet) we biked up to Pitec and then onward to a refugio to 13500 feet.... i was winded all day and could not keep up with yumay who misteriously is doing phantastic with the altitude... the trails were nice and the scenery incredible... biking at 13500 feet and looking up to Huascaran (6750m, something like 23000 feet!) is breathless!!!
