Orienteering race (University of BC) 17:41 [4] *** 2.6 km (6:48 / km)
spiked:10/11c

Race at University of BC. I wasn't sore, but felt slow. Only mistake came on a route error where I thought I could get between two buildings, but couldn't. Had to go around and lost 20 or so seconds which put me out of the Chase race in the afternoon.
12 PM

Orienteering race (Jericho Beach) 16:34 [5] *** 2.8 km (5:55 / km)
spiked:14/15c

Missed the Chase race (top 25 in morning session, finished 29th), so I raced in the race for everyone else. Took third, one second behind second and two behind winner. Crazy race. Mass start with butterfly loops. I ran the same loop as Adrian, who won. Took off at the start and led for awhile (Thomas Nipen was discounted from results of the public race). Did a faceplant early on which was fun. Was very wet.

Towards the end I passed Adrian (12-13) but made a map misread (or thought I did) and I had to pause. He passed me at that point. I then followed close behind onto controls 14 and 15, but was unable to make a pass on the narrow trails. After punching the last control, Adrian and I saw Hayden, who was on a different loop, punch the last control ahead of us and look at his map. Seeing the opportunity, we both bolted for the finish past him. Adrian managed to pass him, but he realized he was on his final loop as I reached him and accelerated to the finish just ahead of me. Ended up 22nd overall in that race combined with the Chase race.
2 PM

Orienteering warm up/down (Acadia) 40:00 [2] *** 3.3 km (12:07 / km)
19c

Cool down event at the Acadia community. Felt like trespassing. Liked the map, but took things very slow.

Orienteering race (South Surrey Bike Park) 21:09 [5] **** 1.6 km (13:13 / km) +50m 11:26 / km
spiked:9/12c

My Route (Public, 11th place of people with times listed)
Public course at the WRE today at South Surrey bike park. Fairly clean run with my biggest mistake coming on the first control. Chalenging labyrinth of trails in there, but a decent run.
11 AM

Orienteering (Centennial Park) 25:00 [4] ** 2.3 km (10:52 / km) +110m 8:46 / km
spiked:15/17c

Route choice session at Centennial Park. Took an interesting route through a residential area, but I think it was about as good as any others. Spiked most controls.
12 PM

Orienteering (Crescent Park) 30:00 [5] ** 2.5 km (12:00 / km)

O-tervals at Crescent Park. Ran with some elite orienteers. There were some pauses in there at the finishes, but we ran hard when we did. Intention of exercise was to run as fast as you could, but to try to navigate as well.
2 PM

Orienteering (South Surrey WRE Revisit) 30:00 [2] **** 2.4 km (12:30 / km) +50m 11:19 / km
spiked:12/19c

Jogged the mens WRE course at South Surrey Bike Park.
3 PM

Orienteering race (Minoru Park) 19:20 [5] ** 2.8 km (6:54 / km)
spiked:25/30c

Good race at Minoru Park. Very wet, and crossed a mini river twice. Finished 16th out of 40 finishers with about 10 mispunches, 2 of which would have beaten me. One of my best races of the weekend. Sometimes you could follow, sometimes others followed you a bit, but that comes with the forked mass start. Ran AAAA-BBBB
5 PM

Swim 15:00 [3]

100 m crawl.
100m breast.
I'm not the swimmer of the family but did a few laps to cool down from the hot tub.

Orienteering warm up/down (False Creek) 22:00 [2] *** 2.7 km (8:09 / km)
spiked:13/16c

Warmup map at Sprint Camp. Map was False Creek. Pin flags. Managed to trip over a sprinkler head so I got a little scraped up.
3 PM

Orienteering race (Olympic Village) 16:59 [5] * 2.3 km (7:23 / km)
spiked:15/19c

Ran hard and overall had a good race. There were a few extra controls at each site to try to throw you off so I made 1 mistake worth a 15 second penalty to my original 16:44. There was a portion of the map that was blown up to show detail (an island), which I did not see in the bottom corner of my map. Overall a good race.

...or not. Had to call today off too because my teeth, which are getting fixed tomorrow, popped out again. Now I feel like I'm making excuses...
