Run - Maryville Magic Mile 6:40 [5] 1.6 km (4:10 / km)
shoes: Saucony March 2015

Maryville Magic Mile (1.6 km) Round 3 on western side of Carrington Park run course.

Came 17th.

Round #3 6:40 with first km in 3:58
Round #2 6:17 with first km in 3:45
Round #1 6:47 with first km in 4:02

It was freezing cold and for the first time I was wearing light thermal long pants and top. Legs, and particularly thighs, were feeling the weekend so wasn't expecting much. Went out hard but was stuffed within about 400 m and struggled on the return 800 m.

Skipped remainder of Wooters Training for the first time in ages.
Managed to get a physio appointment this Wednesday, and for the 2 weeks after that, so hope to get some repairs done to ankle.

Orienteering - Bush (NOY3 Barnsley) 1:05:44 [3] *** 7.12 km (9:14 / km)
14c

Nominal 5.2 km. 14 Controls. Medium Red.

Very erratic navigation day.
Shown well and truly in terrible time splits and the fact I did 2 extra kilometres over the nominal distance.
Will look at splits further and may comment later.

Got changed out of wet clothes immediately after and didn't go out for a 2nd run.
11 AM

Other - Ice Skating 2:00:00 [2]

Ice skating lesson for companion Round 2.
Back at Warners Bay.

They cut their number of falls down by about 70% from 2 weeks ago and managed a few turns and braking manoeuvrers. My only fall was when I distracted them, bringing them down, and then I fell and face planted on top of them ... which was rather embarrassing. Enjoyable day.

After 2 hours my interest level falling and my ankle and legs had enough from the combined weekends activities.

Run 5 km NSW - Official Walka Water Works 24:29 [5] 5.0 km (4:54 / km)
shoes: Saucony March 2015

19 secs outside PB at Maitland.
1:13 outside overall PB from Fingal Bay.
11:17 to halfway mark and then ankle failed after 3 km. So 2nd half must have been 13:12.
First 3 km splits 4:08, 4:15 and 4:37.
Splits for last 2 km blew out badly to 4:54 and 5:28.
Last km I was close to quitting. :-(
But at least I showed up this week.
2 PM

Run - Newcastle Cross Country (Kurri Kurri) 32:23 [3] 5.74 km (5:39 / km)
shoes: Saucony March 2015

Not exactly sure why I attempted this apart from it being a nice day and not wanting to stay home.
Out the back of Kurri Kurri hospital basically the entire length of the Mining Mystery map from top to bottom and then return.
Best split 4:48 and worst 6:06 but ankle held up at the slower pace.

6 PM

Run - Pure Newcastle 37:09 [3] 6.54 km (5:41 / km)
shoes: Saucony March 2015

Ankle began failing after 4 km mark.
This is getting frustrating again being reduced to a hobble.

Note
(rest day)

Skipped gym.

Went home and spent 4 hours cooking instead. 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm.
This is in addition to dinner.

24 mini quiches which will make 6 to 8 meals.
Fried rice will make 8 meals.
4 kg of Tandoori Beef Curry (marinated meat overnight).

Took half an hour just to dice up all the meat - I am no Master Chef.

Wednesday morning spent 2 hours cooking the curry and doing all the dishes.

The reason for this is I expected to be stuck at home until midday as Insurance Assessor due for inspection at 12 pm.

But then they rocked up at 8:45 am, just as I was putting the curry containers into the freezer, so I got to go to work just a few hours late. And looks like they will replace the water damaged part of my garage ceiling and repaint the entire garage ceiling to match.

Kitchen freezer now at capacity with overflow going into garage freezer.

Will test out the curry and rice Wednesday night!

Bonus : Finally caught two mice in bottom shelf of my pantry that have been raiding the dog food. The first night they evaded the traps ... but the 2nd night I had better 'hair trigger set'. See how many more yet.
