Orienteering - Bush (Minor - Heart Rate Hills) 1:19:56 [3] ** 6.32 km (12:39 / km)

Found these Salomons shoes right sole now splitting. Heels have been trashed for ages (from the ankle guards being fitted in and out) giving me constant blisters every time I wear them.
They have done over 800 km through the bush so are past their use by date!

Fitness and motivation letting me down at Orienteering events as I no longer run. Occasional jog at best. Groin tear still causing me problems.

To try and lift my morale I spent 5 minutes discussing route choice with Denis Lyons prior to going out. As a result was a lot happier with my navigation and ability to 'cross features of my list' as I passed each one.

Especially happy with #5 as I came in from the northwest track and just about spiked it (despite this saying I lost time which was more getting from #4 to the track earlier).

But still came towards the bottom of the leaderboard.

Note

Chainsawing off "low" tree branches on 15 acre property to minimise risk of tractor, with accompanying slasher, hitting the rollbar when passing underneath. Then cut the branches into short lengths and loaded into trailer to transport to one large pile for burning later.

First return to Newy in absolute ages.
Ran with someone doing their 50th run and trying to beat there 25ish PB but couldn't keep up in last two km as they ended up 23:58 so smashed their time.
KC also in attendance and had a fast 3 km before straining her knee.

Time approximate. Laid another 9 boards.
Stopped as stripped all the Philips head driver bits we had remaining so couldn't secure the next round of retaining clips.
Ripped up almost all boards on the section we are working on and pulled apart staircase between two levels of decking to allow boards to be laid beneath it.

Note

"Escape the Room" novelty event in Newcastle.
I had heard this advertised on the radio and was intrigued enough to go and try it with a team of 5 strangers.
We failed and didn't escape although I found more keys and opened more locks than any other team member.
The group may try another room again later .... there are apparently 3 to try.

Simple money maker with minimal set-up establishment or ongoing costs for the organiser. He pays rent and just resets the room again after each group.
