Slowest time in a long time. Struggled in first km.

Note

No gardening of any significance.
Spent time inside cleaning house, vacuuming and partially scrubbing floors. Also cleaned all leaves out of pool ready for high pressure cleaning hopefully next week.

Gardening - General 3:00:00 [1]

Approx 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Miscellaneous chores :

1. Burnt off two large piles of leaves remaining from long weekend.

2. Pulled out all the large weeds that have grown in the "dirt fill valley" by downhill neighbours fenceline (where I don't mow) and filled two wheelbarrows to take to Fire Pit.

3. Swept up all the gravel that was still washed up (in flood more than a year or two ago) on the sleeper bridge crossing the spoon drain in front yard and then whippersnipped all the grass runners that was growing through it.

4. Whippersnipped all the long grass growing in garden beds either side of driveway to allow hand weeding later.

5. Continued cutting up fallen trees down the back bush block and wheelbarrowed to Fire Pit.

6. Burnt off Fire Pit (again).

Still have to high pressure clean the pebble crete sides of the pool but can't borrow the high pressure cleaner from work until weekend of 15th.

Yard back under control for now - will just have to keep on top of the never ending deluge of sticks and grass growing over next few months. Time now to start working on inside and externals of house to get that presentable.

Chore - Clean Shed Gutters (Part 2) 15:00 [1]

6:25 am - 6:40 am
Remaining 3 bags worth to finish off this task

Gardening - General 10:00 [1]

6:45 am - 6:55 am
Reclipping up roll of fabricated fence mesh to boundary fence between house yard and back bush block. It got washed off the fenceline (by all the leaf litter load jammed against it) in the flood more than a year or so ago and I needed to fix it back up.
Better late than never.

Orienteering - Street (Warm-up #01 Kahibah) 42:41 [3] 6.43 km (6:38 / km)

Warm-up was identical course November 4th to last year.

http://www.attackpoint.org/viewlog.jsp/user_6743/p...

Last year route 2K 2S 3E 2H 3D 1C 2J 2A 1P 2D 2C 3G 1A 1G 2L 3B 1E 2P 2M 2B

Last year 45:33 and 7.74 km for 20 Controls / 39 Points (1 point x 5, 2 point x 11, 3 point x 4) in 45:33 so -1

This year route 1M 2B 1D 3A 1L 2M 2P 1K 3B 2L 1G 1A 3G 2C 2D 1P 2A 3D 3E 2K

This year 42:41 and 6.43 km for 20 Control / 38 Points (1 Point x 7, 2 Point x 8, 3 Point x 5) so ended up with the same score in less km and less time!

I deliberately went the opposite way around and elected to visit 5 control sites I missed last year (1M, 1D, 3A, 1L, 1K - 7 points) and skipped 4 control sites (2S, 2H, 1C, 2J, 1E - 8 points).

However this year I got caught out by 2H forgetting it had to be an in and out via the street as I came up through the bush only to be greeted with the back of people fences! I probably could have made it but I chose the wrong bush track and didn't end up at the street entrance anyway.

Fitness level down on last year but managed to keep moving through entire course and felt OK at the end and in the hours afterwards.

Note

I am sore all over and very tired.
Need another 3 days off to recover from my 3 days off.
But I will need to keep this up each night after work until the backlog is caught up and the house and yard is ready.
5 PM

Chore - Clean Shed Gutters (Part 1) 1:20:00 [1]

Log said I hadn't done this since 28th February which I thought couldn't be correct and I must have done it 3 months ago and not written it up.
However when got up there gutters were packed tightly full and filled up 15 bags before running out of time! Continue in morning and finish prior to work so I can put out the soggy leaves in the bin for collection.

Gardening - General 7:55:00 [2]

Yard Restoration - Day 3 of 3

6:45 am - 8:30 am
Restoring my tracks through the bush.
Cutting up about 4 fallen trees down the back bush block (and wheelbarrowing the branches to the fire pit) to clear all the tracks and picking up large sticks and branches on the tracks.

Drink break.

8:50 am - 9:50 am
Continuing cutting up fallen trees.
Need a chainsaw for some of them as too large and heavy to cut by hand.

9:50 am - 10:20 am
Burning branches in Fire Pit.
Reinforcements arrived!
My brother and his family to repay some of my deck building slave labouring.

10:35 am - 12:45 am
With brother raking around saplings and whippersnipping areas that the mower can't get to. Starting to get too windy to burn so piled leaves up to one side - as if put them on yesterdays ash they would combust from the latent heat.

Lunch.

1:25 pm - 2:15 pm
With brother raking and poly trailers full of leaves from grass area either side of the drainage trench.

Reinforcements retreated. :-(

2:35 pm - 3:35 pm
Solo raking and poly trailers full of leaves either side of drainage trench.

3:35 pm - 4:15 pm
Whippersnipping the grass area either side of the drainage trench now that the bulk of leaves and twigs removed. The ride on lawn mower was nearly out of fuel and I had none in the jerry can so I didn't want to run out and get stranded .... and I couldn't be bothered with the 30 minute return drive to go and get some.

Break for the day.
