Note
(rest day)

Melbourne.

Lazy day walking around Shopping Centre whilst waiting for a Zumba 3 hour Class to be over.

Remainder of day included more dress shopping before finally buying one.
I need to find a suit to get me up to equivalent standard.
Also masks as attending an end of year masquerade ball function on December 2nd.

Caught the train from Airport to Central, and then Central to Quakers.
First time I have done this and it was relatively painless.
Didn't get home until 11 pm.

Note
(rest day)

Melbourne.

Didn't get back to Melbourne Hotel until after 11 pm and its been a hell of a long exhausting week. So when the alarm for parkrun went off I rolled over and decided to stay in bed (so Albert Park will have to wait for another day).

Spent the day walking around Melbourne CBD and the docklands. I haven't been to Melbourne (apart from in transit in the Airport) in at least 15 years and last visit was only a few days. Was amazed by how extensive the tram network is. Would have covered a fair few km but didn't record it but was spread out over multiple hours.

Melbourne put on a lovely sunny day.

Walked down to the Library at the Dock which was built by LendLease out of timber to understand better the new factory that I now work at (this project was made from imported cut panels .... in future we will be cutting them in Australia).

Was also amazed how MANY o-bikes there were on the street. Totally lost count. Almost every street we walked down there seemed to be 2-3 parked in groups at least every 300 m apart. They were almost like litter. Most didn't have helmets chained up so no idea how you legally ride them.

Rest of the day spent looking at dresses (not for me).

Orienteering - Street Sydney (#06 Woolwichj) 44:46 [3] 5.97 km (7:30 / km)

A very bad navigation day today! Probably worst ever.
I had to pick up a bookcase at West Ryde on the way.
When I stopped there he remembered me and asked "where are you Orienteering today?"
"Woolwich" I replied.
"But I haven't even looked where it is or entered it in my GPS" I added.
I then proceeded to the car and got the list of 26 events out ... typed in a street address for South Turramurra and blindly followed the car instructions.
As I got closer I thought "geez this looks familiar" only to pull up at last weeks starting park area.
So I had read the wrong line on the list and not knowing Sydney driven to last weeks event.

This added 40 minutes to my trip (after another detour as was down to the last 20 km of fuel in tank) so by the time I got to the correct location it was 6:10 pm and by the time I got to the start it was 6:25 pm so I was running close to event closure time.

My navigation didn't improve much on the course with 6 controls packed into an area of bush approximately 200 m x 300 m with lots of little twisting paths (barely two footprints wide) where I got turned around and ended up not finding the controls in order. I was 15 minutes in before I cleared these controls so elected to try and remain on streets for remainder of course but I had to cut my planned route back severely and probably ended up with my lowest percentage score of any event to date.

Sydney courses are proving to be much more scenic than Newcastle (running past mega mansions and waterfront properties with views of the Sydney Harbor Bridge) but the repeated bush excursions each week make it more challenging than running on the street.

Note to Self. Despite your desire to restore your fitness ... when it is raining you can skip one day on the bike .... it is not worth getting that wet and cold again.

Bike Ride - From Work 46:45 [3] 18.7 km (2:30 / km)

Blue skies on the way home compared to the morning.
