Run 5 km NSW - Official Penrith Lakes 30:52 [3] 5.0 km (6:10 / km)

65th parkrun and 36th location.
I wasn’t sure which Sydney parkrun to cross of the list today so chose this one as it was relatively close and was meant to be a single 5 km loop around the lake of the International Regatta Centre.
Every other one I can remember either an out and back or several loops.
I had problems finding it as my iPhone died, as per 1000s of other people this morning apparently, so I drove to four gates before I found the correct one.
Then found they had an event on so all the concrete walking paths were closed but the parkrun moves to a backup cross country loop course. Grass and gravel and yes a double loop.
650 m walk from car park to start which was a bit different!

KC arrived before I got back and then we caught train into Sydney and she went to hair stylist to get glammed up whilst I walked to Apple store to do work around to sort phone out until they release a patch for the glitch. Bizarre that KC has same model phone and it not affected.

Note

Going to my first ever Masquerade Ball (or any kind of Ball for that matter) on Saturday night in centre of Sydney with KC from 7 pm to Midnight. Work Christmas function and apparently 1000 people attend. Have a hotel booked 8 minute walk away to avoid having to train back in middle of night whilst all glammed up. KC to wear a stunning dress purchased from our Melbourne trip a few weeks back whilst I will be wearing a suit from my brothers wedding about 5 years ago (despite the weight gain I still fit). Matching style of feathered masks in white/cream for KC and grey/black for me bought 2 weeks ago.

Run - Miscellaneous 29:32 [3] 5.21 km (5:40 / km)

At The Ponds with "Running Nuts" group as a Wooters substitute.
This weeks theme was "orange" so got to wear the Wooters top and actually be compliant this week.
2 other Wooters also present which was unusual.

Orienteering - Street Sydney (#09 Burn Baby Burn) 45:13 [3] 7.54 km (6:00 / km)

350 points with a 10 point penalty.
18 controls visited.
Could have come back early but pushed for an extra 20 points ... so finished ahead by a net 10 points.

Got everything I had pre-marked on the map with the exception of 4 controls near the end in about a 500 m loop which I hoped to add on as an extra but ran out of time.
Course layout was a bit odd this week and I could only see one way to solve it as getting any more than I had planned involved crossing under a freeway and heading a fair way out into bushland area. Looked like a good way to get caught too far from the start and to get lost so I avoided it.

According to scores Daniel Orr from Newcastle Orienteering Club was there this week but I didn't see him.

No bike ride today to rest from yesterdays Rogaine and also so I could go to bike shop to buy two spare bike tubes as backup for future flat tyres!
