Silva league again, and the cold facts (my route and time) say that it was another poor run. i went through yesterday, thought about what i wanted to do today, talked about it, crossed the startline and made big mistakes to both 1 and 2 and the next control that needed care (5). after that i lost the feeling of wanting to push in an unimportant race i'd already blown but later i got some company which helped me forget and learn something instead.

so no finding my feet again yet but actually some encouraging things and a few legs a ran better. yesterday it felt like ive gone backwards but today ive rethought. i think once i find some security and belief in my orienteering again i will be better than i was before i lost it.

also throat a lot better thanks to anti pollen allergy tablets and at least it was some much needed training at terrain strength (not much of this just now, i dont need to run in anything nearly this rough/minging for WOC Long but a bit will help i think) :-)

another disaster in the forest, from start to finish i ran badly and didn't do anything i was wanting to do today. really hurts to be so crap after lots of hard work, didn't enjoy it :-( feeling under some pressure to start to make things work again soon but i haven't learnt anything recently - everything i do wrong ive done a lot before but still havent changed it.

training near Örebro. really not a good head on today, angry at having a scratchy throat again so as soon as i made a tiny miss that was it and i didn't concentrate or feel good for the rest of the course :-(

finally got out late, not really for much useful training but just to try and get a better mood before tomorrow and so i could stretch after. actually had a much better (higher) cadence than in last few weeks, feel like slowly getting over recent physical dip.

except throat still not feeling great, like ive eaten something too sharp on one side. nothing to see there though, no white. will just have a good night's sleep and see how it is tomorrow...

Sprint day. First Tuesday's training at Ulleråker. Pleased to get a good feeling with the orienteering. Thinking ahead and having a good picture of the control area as well as making route choices. Not much slowing down but two small mistakes, once distracted by a green X turning out to be a tree on the ground and once running halfway 12-14 before i realised. some time also looking at how things were mapped so i can try and make Gottsunda consistent.

Sprint 2, Silva League in Kumla. Just like this morning, sort of dominated by reading parallel 10-11 instead of 5-6 and not realising til i was almost there. otherwise i was a bit slow to settle in the first 3 legs but pleased with the middle section. running quite okay but it still felt like the second hard training today.

some work on how i re-fold the map on sharp direction changes to do then...

need to get some resting in somewhere this week! some full rest, not even alternative training. especially as it's time to pack my bags for some days in Örebro. More Silva League, one of each distance, but not really racing for me, just some different terrain and nice technical challenges to enjoy. will really try hard to remember this when im there and after i run too.

Morning spent surveying but afternoon spent in Nåsten! First map memory coaching the juniors (went well), then i was supposed to be doing sprint training but got tempted by Thierry's contour only course. really good afternoon with different parts of technique in focus, felt tired in my head and legs at the end but had a really good feeling in parts of the course. instructions on the map read "get the fundamentals down and the level of everything you do will rise", which is a nice thing to think about when getting confidence back. it worked! :-)
