11 AM

Running - easy 45:00 [2]
shoes: Saucony Kinvara Feb 2019

Back home, in a bit of a weird limbo between trips, can't do anything too constructive. Must still be tired, round forge dam etc but just back from there, legs didnt want to know about going up any real hills.

Alternative training intervals 50:00 [3]

Almost the last one...

10 AM

Running - easy 20:00 [2]
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280 May 2019

Round and about, then to the start

Orienteering - easy 20:00 [2]
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280 May 2019

Took an open course. Middle distance meant it was a short one, pretty much just back from the start, but diagonal legs on vague hillside meant it was quite a fun one even at slow speed. Bit tired but had a great week :-)

Alternative training 45:00 [2]

X-trainer, correctly guessing it would be easier before than after racing

S&C 10:00 [3]

RDLs so that hamstrings/glutes are back in balance with heavy quads from yesterday

Running - easy warm up/down 15:00 [2]
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280 May 2019

And bilberry fuelling

Orienteering - hard race 1:18:00 [4]
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280 May 2019

Craig a barns long race. Steady rather than really quick but after skiving off half the orienteering this week felt reasonably fresh in the terrain. Quite stable, a few small decisions here and there. Performance wouldnt have done anything amazing at woc but good enough to keep me happy today. Really enjoyed the forest!

Running - easy 1:45:00 [2]
shoes: Inov-8 X Talon 210 May 2019

Ben lawers from the main car park, via beinn ghlas summit both ways. Another quite short one, easy going all the way. Weather was being dramatic again but in a quite nice way, some breaks in the cloud here and there, rolling mist. Would have been nice to take more of the peaks but i didn't want it to turn into an epic.

Orienteering - hard race 34:00 [4]
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280 May 2019

Middle on new area. Cool and quite difficult forest for most of it. A small miss to the first and a couple of hesitations but mostly nice and stable. Got a bit lazy when i saw Lizzie a bit ahead in the open, knew i would probably be okay for the win if i kept going as i was. Not feeling so quick but at least mostly good control.
6 PM

Alternative training 45:00 [2]

Managed eventually to beg an induction, which was filling in a form and being shown the way into the gym.

Note

On the same day as i managed to hire a car without the correct ID, i still couldnt blag my way in to use the x-trainer in the local gym without a full induction, which might be possible tomorrow but i dont know yet. Ffs.
12 PM

Running - easy 1:40:00 [2]
shoes: Inov-8 X Talon 210 May 2019

Schiehallion from the main car park. Good rhythm most of the way up, until it got rocky and pre woc paranoia kicked in. So quite slow both up and down on the top part. Not the most epic hill adventure but that's why i chose it today.
