Orienteering - hard race (Relay) 45:00 [4]

EOC relay. not good at all. tired, flat and not able to get into the right frame of mind to race. so it wasn't smooth either physically or technically :-( im not sure if theres something wrong with me, but i think its probably just lots of races in a short space of time. need to take the advice of my brill teammates, to remember that you can't be great every day and to just get on with it when you feel crap instead of wishing you felt better. will go home and recover a bit, i miss having some bounce in my legs!

EOC Sprint final. so so tired today, i wish id had legs that were running as well as on Wednesday in the quali! died on my ass in the second half. distracted by thinking about being slow, especially just before map exchange. idiot! kind of disappointed but also this is my best World Cup result so far, something to build on.

EOC long final. urgh. just not happening today, no fight in my legs or my head. it's a tough week! made mistakes in the beginning and the rest was just a plod round trying to stay on m feet on the rocks. some good route choices though, saving me seconds against the girls i was running with, who were running better.

EOC Sprint qual. stupid mistake early on, running into the dead end that everyone seemed to be running into, but went really well apart from that. felt springy with the running, so it was fun too :-)

Long qualification. not such a good race, two misses (1 and 8, the second one was a really big mistake where i panicked a bit after v closely missing feature). not pleased, scraped a place in the final though. nice to get first run out of the way. too many nerves made me feel a bit heavy but managed nerves better than have been doing this year.

warm up. no warm down - hit knee on rock so went to first aid instead. o trousers a bit mangled but should be okay tomorrow.

Model area for EOC. Not good. Missing all the time, no matter how hard i was trying. i think i was trying too hard. not feeling good after this :-(

Wanting to run a bit better so went for second training. A bit better, at least getting over half controls okay now. No orienteering tomorrow i think.

Note

not looking after Ankle properly at Tio >>> inflammation round tendon on back of ankle bone. worried about this, quite close to achilles, even though fine to run. so blagged visit to Finnish team doctor to check it. it should be okay if i strap it. also confirmed i have 'nicer feet than ice hockey players'. good. :-)
