First leg of the Stars Winter Adventure Race. We had a good snowshoe making our way from 1->2 via c and a. Some of the trails were barely noticable and hadn't been used in a while so did require some close attention. After hitting CP2, we planned a counter-clockwise route of D,B,...,C but trying to follow a small trail ended up taking is south so I pulled an audible and we started with C and reversed the order/direction. Once back at CP2/3 back up the snowpacked trails b,d,e,f,4 and then took off snowshoes for the run back on road to CP5/TA.
XC Skiing race (Classic) 1:40:01*** 13.28 km (7:32 / km) +32m7:26 / km
Unfortunately we didn't have a very good ski here, teammate was pretty cooked and had sh*tty skis so it was slow going. The navigation was fine, didn't make any mistakes although I'm not sure we took the best routes. Was great to be out xc skiing for the first time this winter.
Had a great time at the race, first time finally doing the race, glad I did. Location was nice, good organization/host site and great post-race pizza and prizing (massive bottle of vino, thanks Eugenious!). Thanks Nick, FunRun and all the others who helped with the race!
RIDES: The Rockies training DVD. Forgot about the auto-pause feature for the first 7-min warmup so just added it in.
