Nothing like a 13K road run to start out the day. Strapped our snowshoes to our packs and completed that in about 1:05 so moving pretty well to start. Due to colder conditions overnight and an easy pace on Day 1 we were able to run most of the day, picking off the CP's and following the elephant tracks in many cases to conserve efforts. Made it in well ahead of the cutoff but still over an hour after Miller and his dominant win. How he managed to make a 65K+ course into 56K is beyond me; I need to see his route!

Snogaine snowshoe slog. Mapped a route to do the SE area on day 2, W on Day 2. Started off sloppy - forgot to punch our first CP had to backtrack 10mins for it, then missed the next CP by overshooting it. The rest went mostly well, it was slow going, pretty much just hiking with the deep snow. Was ahead of our plan so picked up a few extra along with the one we missed early but still made it back with 30mins to spare. Knee was not enjoying today and would be worse the next day. After Day 1 we were in 5th but knew we (along with many others) would clear the course so Day 1 results meant nothing.

Post-holing out back with the dogs to/from Snyder tract. Pooches were struggling in the deep snow.

Extra long warm up as someone had to have a specific trainer to ride on....

Killer uphill course, toughest one yet. Puke bucket almost needed.
Held a decent pace until about an hour in... then the legs crumbled on the final climb. Avg 242W on T8.
