Convoluted but enjoyable sunny run, mainly around the XC course, at Thornes park before Hannah ran the Yorkshire road relays. Forgot my watch, so will call it 6 miles, I was jogging along at a decent rate.

Parked down in Rivelin, but took the maverick option and headed out along Loxley. Really great running up through the woods as ever and cracking views from the top end of the common through the mist and mirk towards Damflask. Forgot how much road there was back from the old Robin Hood which was a bit troublesome, bloody roads.

This was pretty much my standard Rivelin loop, although a little detour to look at the alottment were hopefully getting. Legs could tell I ran a bit faster yesterday.

Thought I’d have bash at something ’faster’ so a XC session round the field at Eccy Woods. 5, 5, 4, 4mins (75s).

10min warm up, then into the faster stuff. Paces of 6:17, 6:25, 6:31, and 6:12 . Rapid!

Was thinking while warming up that the ground was a bit hard and that some mud would be welcome. After the first rep the skies became black, lightning, thunder, hail and rain so thick you could only see 20m in front, I was absolutely piss wet through. The lightning was bang overhead and it was a bit exposed running round an open field! Ground it out and then jumped in the car, It would have been nice to finish the session with 3min x2 and 2min x2, but I’d only half expected to do it all with decent weather.
