Decided yesterday was my long run so joined in Hannah’s run from Bakewell, taking in Over Haddon, Lathkill Dale, cut the corner before Sheldon and back down to Ashford in the water and the muddy slip and slide along the river back to Bakewell. Saw the Llamas. Legs and lungs seemed to have survived yesterday’s race.

Dark peak club champs.

Originally I had a rather good handicap, but some dirty rat had blabbed to Lewis and I got downgraded to only 30s in front of Josh. All immaterial really as I was just glad to have got round in a respectable time given the time off with the lurgy.
Caught Shelf, my 30s man on the contour to number2, although Josh and Rob had also started hard and caught me just before the 2nd control. Navigation over now and tried, but failed to stay with Josh and Rob. Neil and Tom eventually came past on the way to (Neil) and away from (Tom) the mast at Abney moor. Then it was a long slog back to the finish slowly overtaking the train of Dark Peakers in front. Must have got some decent lines through Little Switzerland though as I caught back to Neil and overtook Josh before the ford only to see the gap grow even greater up to the trig at Sir William hill.

Lots of fun, a great course and glad to have survived with my lungs in tack. Finished 5th fastest in a very good field. One more race next weekend at Liverpool before the training for the XC champs races picks up a gear.

Rest Day. Sports Massage with Matt, few tight spots in the calves probably from returning to track/lots of road running. Got a specific lunge to do to alleviate the tightness at the top of right quad.
