Running warm up/down 25:00 [3]
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

Easy cruise from work to the race, might have been a little far for a warm up really.

Orienteering race (Hyde Park Race) 26:52 [5]
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

A better race than last night - still came in 9th, but was a much better field so happier, although so should have been a touch faster.

Bit slow off the start, legs not turning over fast enough? or lack of effort, clean through to 4, maybe not the best line to 5 and hesitated early as wasn't really a wood but sparse trees. 6-8 (7 had been blocked off) was interesting as we'd been briefed on an OOb area thatw asn't on the map and took a less than optimal route to avoid it. then went north round to 10 instead of south which cost approx 15 secs and then got overhauled on the long leg from 10-11 by Jonathon Albon who'd amde up 2 minutes, but as I then only lost 30 seconds to him in the lastter stages shows that he may be more of a runner than an orienteer as up to the point where he passed me had both me and Don leading him in and when he'd gone past us he started wobbling - still he's fast enough to make up for it.

Be interesting to see the splits cause felt lost pace in the latter stages....

Orienteering race (Eltham parkrace) 30:53 [5]
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

Once again a poor run - wood was pretty scrappy and never really got to grip with it. Made sizable errors on No.s 1, 6 and 8 not good

As most others had a mare, then I came in 10th which isn't bad just not as good as I wanted

Event: Jukola 2012

Running race (Carsington Footpath Relay) 55:23 [5]
shoes: Saucony Peregrine

Route was from Elton to Parwich, hadn't recce'd it so went and scouted the finish which was handy as part of it went through someone's garden and that would of made me hesitate and looked at a middle section which seemed complex and the start, so fairly confident nav wise to start.

Got handed over to in 5th place about 1 sec up on the guy from DVO and 5 min down on 3rd - dropped the DVO guy immediately and caught the others within the 1st mile or so, but felt I needed to push it as wanted to give Dad as much of a cushion as possible. As it happens had 2nd fastest split - bit gutted as only 1min down on the fastest, mum said it was ok as he was a club runner..... obviously I don't qualifyb as one ;-)

Gave dad a cushion of 7 min approx and he lengthened it to 11min - good work.

So the 2nd loop finished 3rd overall and 1st orienteering team, but when combined with the 1st loop we were 5th an annoying 30 seconds behind one of the running clubs!

Fun stuff pushed hard and was running well
