North Herts Navigator MBO

Finished 5th overall with 407 points. Not bad considering I dis the ROC MM last weekend and I had a slow puncture on the rear tyre during the race. I later discovered that air was coming out around the valve. Could be damaged tape? Pressure was 10psi by the end and was very wobbly & hard work with several banks to the rim. I may have won the event if it wasn't for this as I may have got CP three which was a 30 pointer.

1. Mark Morgan 426 (1000)
2. Kevin Horsley 420 (986)
3. Mark Rowley 419 (984)
4. Phil Clark 413 (969)
5. Gary Davies 407 (955)

S>14: OK
14>11: Went up a few wrong roads but quickly realised my errors and turned back. No major time loss.
11>15: OK
15>16: OK
16>18: OK
18>19: OK
19>20: OK however in hindsight I should have done 16>20>18>19>23
20>23: Didn't get this right and probably lost over a minute.
23>27: OK
27>24: OK out and back
24>26: OK out and back
26>25: OK
25>21: OK
21>17: OK however I foolishly decided to drop #22 (10 pointer) which was only a 1km out and back on flat terrain. My plan was to start dropping the 10 pointers and try and do a loop of all the 20 pointers and 30 pointers around the N of the map.
17>9: Lost 1.5mins and 10 points as I started going for #10 (10 pointer) but decided to drop it and turn back and head towards #9 along a longer but faster road. However it turned out that the other route was just as fast as another competitor collected #10 and popped out at #9 at the same time as me.
9>8: Lost about 2-3 minutes here as I took a slightly longer route than what was necessary and stopped at the wrong place looking for the CP.
8>7: OK but the rear tyre was very flat by this point.
7>6: OK
6>2: OK
2>4: Tyre was mega flat by now and I wasn't sure whether I'd get back in time. I decided not to stop and pump it up and run the risk of continuing and trying to put as much weight as possible on the front. Hard work!
4>F: Hard work!

Note

Added the mudguards and pannier to the new commuter which was a lot harder than I expected as I had to cut the length on the mudguard supports.
